When I got Zoe fixed everything went smoothly. I was a little concerned leaving her at the vet by herself all night, but they let me call and check on her. Then I picked her up in the morning and she was fine. She just had a little itching where the stitches were. Went back got the stitches out and the vet said it was healing great and it did.... No problems at all!

I know it is natural to worry about them when they go in. But I am sure it will be fine!!

I work at an animal shelter and have seen several thousand animals spayed or neutered. Of all these animals, I only recall one death and that was the result of an unforseen allergy. Most of the animals seem perky and happy by the very next day. When we had our own dog spayed, I was a nervous wreck, but she was back to her old self within a day or two.

i have had only one bad experience. and that was because my friends got a stray dog and was having him fixed and he turned out to be a hemophiliac and they hadn't known before they sent him in. but out of all my dogs and all my other friends and their dogs they have all turned out fine :) if you have made sure your dog is fine and healthy for it she will be fine ^^ yoshi was a bit drugged up for a day or two but it was a nice quiet time for us both

Maddie had a bit of a lump on her spay scar when I got her from the shelter, and they noted on her profile that she had a bit of a reaction to the stitches. She seems fine now and the lump that I noticed before has since gone away. As far as being worried about the surgery, thats normal and its good to see that you are, but remember that you're doing this for her health and that the benefits greatly outweigh the risks.

I remember being a nervous wreck with both of my dogs, but it went very smoothly. Addie ran out of the back room when we picked her up (I had imagined her barely able to walk), and was her total usual, perky self. I had taken some pain meds for her, but I have to say she didn't even seem to need them. I did give her 2 pills (in case I just wasn't seeing her pain), but she was so 'normal' that I started to wonder if they even did the surgery! LOL she never licked or seemed to notice the stitches. Ham came home the same day and was a bit groggy. he wore an e-collar just in case he'd lick his stitches, but he also never seemed bothered at all...nor in pain. I was surprised at how easily they both handled it. I'm sure everything will be fine for your baby. ((hugs))

I am scared of this same thing. My dog had a disease last year and lost about 25lbs. We still dont know what she had but she has been extremely afraid of the vet ever since. I want to spay her but I know she would go nuts if I left her at the vet office. She goes nuts when they just take her in the back for getting her weight. I count my blessings that I still have her and dont want to ruin that. I feel your pain.

If you have a regular clinic , I'd call them as see if you bring her in a few times, just to walk her to different areas and bring her back to you. Don't let her feel your apprehension. The first time Chip went to " the back " he put on his brakes....he's very comfortable now. I'm sure they'll work with you. A couple of pleasant visits, should undo the negative ones.
