God had nothing to do with the huge coats of our current purebred dogs
. I have watched Newf's go from having easy to care for coats to huge hard to care for coats...some can get as long as Afghan hounds if not scissored...it just depends on what's winning in the show ring. With some Newf's you can actually put their coat on their head into a topnot.
