Sad situation. Owner cannot afford to feed pups wanted to leave at shelter.

14 pups!! Mix breed. Has some pitbull, some type of herding dog (border collie?)
Cute lil pups couldnt be a day older than 6 weeks.
He brings them to where I have been DJing. Asking people if the shelter was open this late. Ok this is a bar. Poor puppies are in a rubbermaid bin covered. Holes in the sides so they can breathe.
I do not know where these pups have been so I dont touch them. I cant bring them home because I do not want parvo or any other diseases here. I tell him I can give him a bag of dog food and help him put an ad for these pups.
I am going to help this guy. Not because I want to be nice to him. BUt because he was going to leave them there 2 nights till the shelter opened on monday!!
I am being nice to his face but deep inside I want to crush him!
But he has enough money for a beer! :mad: :mad:

What would you have done?

I would have helped him also. If I had space to quarantine them I would have taken them, gotten them checked out and found homes for them.

i'd have taken them home. poor pups. i hope they find good families to go to.

I was very tempted to bring them home. My first concern is them being exposed to parvo. I cannot have parvo here since I do breed. Second concern was Jims reaction he would not be happy and our relationship is on the rocks right now as it is.
I really really wanted to bring them home. I had to go to the bathroom so no one would see me be weapy.
I know I made the right choice for me. Hopefully the ads I placed today will help him find them homes.
I hope he didnt leave them at the shelter anyways. I have been trying to call him so he can pick up a bag of food. No answer. Sigh If he left them there and I will find out monday. I will give the authorities his phone number and name.
Good thoughts for the poor puppies.

*sigh* you can't save the world. you just do what you can...and you are a wonderful person for trying and caring. I wouldn't want to bring them home, either. don't let yourself feel guilt, just know you did what you could do...and smile for that. :)

I have recieved 15 emails regarding these pups. Still havent gotten ahold of the owner. I am passing on his information so they can contact him.
I hope he answers his phone! I hope he didnt drop them off!!!! I will stop down there tonight and see if they are there then call in the morning.

I will post updates when I have more information

You didn't asnwer my question about the e-vet? They will take them in on a weekend and after hours, and have them tested, vaccinated, etc.

If you end up caring for these pups, I will send you supplies. Toys, shampoo, blankets, etc. I swear I will try and help if I can. Let me know

I already thought about that. There are 3 vets here and none of them take in puppies from private parties. Only one does work for the shelter and he wouldnt take them in either.
There is no way I can risk taking in these pups. I can help find foster homes.
I am calling the new local humane society and see if they have any fosters open. Whether the pups are still in his possesion or if he dropped them off I will still help place the pups. I have 17 inquiries about these pups now.
I just hate seeing them go to the shelter here. This shelter has had nothing but problems with parvo and distemper.
I feel awful for the poor puppies
