So, Louis has a terrible recall (he's 8 months old). This makes going to the dog park a pretty bad idea (though I still do it, I admit).

I've been working with him at home on this since the day I got him, but at the park there are simply too many super awesome and rewarding distractions (other dogs .... wheeeeeeeeeee!).

I am interested in the Recallers course, but want to know if I have a chance of being successful with it.

Thoughts? Experiences?

I just took it last summer. I loved it. However, you have to be committed to practicing the games (i.e. decent at self-motivating), though obviously at your own pace. And it helps if you can find people to work on things with (some games require multiple people to really get the full impact). Any questions I had were met with great feedback, though I didn't find myself asking many questions. I've noticed great results with my dogs (and dogs I work with who I play some of the games with), but I also still play the games regularly in new places to keep things "fresh."

In addition, my work paid for half of it so the cost wasn't as much...

I took it when Pan was an older Pup and I had stopped having a lot fun with training (she was a jerk puppy). The course was excellent and really gave me an attitude change for the better. It helps for training everything, not just recalls, and improves your relationship with your dog. It's also very well laid out and easy to follow along.
