If you would click on my blog, Tosca tells what's going on.

My heartcat Mojo could use some good thoughts, he's feeling really punk. I'll be taking him to the vet in an hour.

I hope all's okay and Mojo feels better soon.

These cats so often don't show any real symptoms. The last time Charlie was sick, I don't know how long he had been feeling puny before I realized he wasn't in my way, wasn't harrassing Venus, and wasn't being his usual obnoxious self with everybody.

Let us know how the vet's visit turns out. Mojo, you better get well soon. You don't want the dog taking over your kingdom (fat chance, and you're not worried, I'm sure!)

Thanks friends. I just got back with Mojo. Snack did well during her spay and I pick her up tomorrow. From herein I shall call her $nack.

The vet noticed that mojo's trachea was very sore and he was just beginning to have some eye running, so it's pretty safe to say it's respiratory. The vet decided to do what he did for $nack and he gave Mojo some nasal medication. Then he gave him a steroid shot to relieve the throat pain. He won't give me antibiotics unless needed. Mojo is already feeling better. I got thrown off because he had no respiratory symptoms. But last night he did start sneezing, so what happened is he wasn't feeling well, kind of like the flu, but there were no outward symptoms most of the week. He just now ate really well too. As you know, if cats can't smell they won't eat. He lost three quarters of a pound this week but considering he weighed 17** pounds that's no big deal. I feel much better about all of this. I was starting to have FIP worries.

I pick up $nack tomorrow. The little money pit that she is..

I hope they both feel good soon. My hubby knows when the cats are coming down with something even before I can tell.

I'm glad it's nothing worse!! Give $nack a scritch for me and lie to Tosca and say her next rib bone is from Sawyer.

As it is, I have to cover Tosca's eyes every time you post Sawyer pics. I mean that doog is just too handsome. Tosca feels he is rather Collie-like and, being one to admire herself, she admires him.

I want you all to know I thank you. I have to tell you I was VERY worried. My worry made it hard for me to diagnose him, which I am usually pretty good at with cats. I lost a lot of sleep over Mojo this week. He seems to be coming along now, thank heavens. In any case, it doesn't seem serious.

I'm glad it doesn't seem to be serious, and I hope Mojo is feeling all better soon. It is worrisome because they seem to be able to go downhill in a hurry.

I know mjb, even with decades of experience, cats can fool you. They hide their illnesses as a throwback to the wild, where they don't want their enemies to see that they are weakened. Unfortunately many a pet cat has died because of this. That's why being tuned into subtle changes is important. It's the only signs you get. Kind of like when your car doesn't sound right. The cat purrs and his plugs misfire, they move differently, change their routine, things like that.

When we went through our most recent bout of urinary tract problems with Charlie, by the time we realized he was sick, he was VERY sick. And once he started feeling better, we realized how many subtle signs we had missed because he was acting like himself again in ways that we hadn't noticed was different. We felt so bad. He had lost several pounds, but he's such a long-haired cat, we hadn't noticed. Then, one day one of us picked him up and gasped at how skinny he felt! He went in right away!

Don't feel badly, mjb, because that is VERY common when it comes to FUS. The cat simply doesn't give off anything more than subtle signs. The first time it happens, you only have retrospect to realize it. The good news is, you did catch it in time, as it can result in horrible death. The better news is, next time you will know VERY fast if he's heading in that direction. I thought of it with Mojo, because he fits the profile. Large neutered male. So I watched to make sure he was urinating ok. But believe me, the first time it happened with one of my cats, I almost lost him too. Now you know the signs, so you can watch for them, because it tends to be a recurring thing, particularly gravel, which is very hard on male cats.
