Do I have to thaw before feeding raw buffalo knuckle bones? It seems like feeding it still-frozen would occupy my dogs for hours (both love frozen veggies for treats) and I can't see any reason other than if they wouldn't eat it or their teeth were sensitive that I would have to thaw it before feeding. Anyone have any feedback?

I know you are supposed to feed raw after it has been frozen for awhile to get rid of harmful bacterias but I have also heard that it is best to defrost it before you feed and there was a reason. Someone who is still feeding raw can probably tell you. I have currently stopped feeding it but I never gave it frozen.

It doesn't matter how you give a knuckle bone, frozen or thawed. You also don't have to freeze it before you give it to kill anything. The only thing I'd freeze would be wild game that might have parasites or something. Bacteria isn't a concern, the dog's digestive system can handle that no problem.

Rah eats almost all his food frozen, be it entire chickens, lamb shanks, beef ribs, whole rabbits, or fish - frozen gives me about twice as long in terms of how long it will take him to eat something.

So a whole 4 lb frozen rabbit gives me half an hour :)
