We just brought home our new puppy and we plan on taking him to the vet tomorrow morning due to a couple of things that worry me a little.

- Seems as if he is dry-heaving.....almost the thing a cat does when he has a hairball and coughs it up, except wrigley has nothing come out. He is doing it a lot.

- I know puppies sleep a lot but he sleeps A LOT! He is up for maybe 30-35 minutes tops and then sleeps. Wakes up, poops, pees, plays for 15 minutes and is out like a light!

- Hasn't been real thirsty in the past 8 hours. Drank a very and i mean very little bit when we got back.

- Very runny diahrea. He has gone about 5 times and all but the first time has been really runny. It also seems he has pooped a lot since he hasn't eaten anything in the past 8 hours.

This are a few things that have worried me. Am I worrying over nothing right now or could there be something wrong. I'm especially worried about the dry-heaving. I plan on taking him to the vet tomorrow for his check up but any feedback would be great! Thanks guys!

Many times pups just get stressed when they come to their new home & it takes them a few days to adjust. It is always a great idea to do what you are doing - set up a vet appt. right away for a check up even if you don't suspect a problem. Most pups need to be treated for worms as well as start their shots. Puppies are noted for playing hard & sleeping hard - they haven't learned to pace themselves. ;)

Take a written list with you to the vet - that way you won't forget anything you need to ask. It's very easy to forget when you're wrangling a puppy and trying to talk to the vet at the same time!

wrigley

Thanks for the feedback. He actually was a lot better today. He even barked once! :D He has been really playful and has been eating and drinking plenty. The vet appointment is for tomorrow so we will see what he says for his check-up. The puppy is 8 weeks old and it seems to almost be potty trained when it comes to newspaper. He will be sleeping on my bed and wake up.....whine a little cause he can't make the jump from my bed to the floor.....so i put him on the floor and he walks straight to the newspaper and goes pee. Then he likes to walk to my bathroom and try to poop on the tile. Never any messes on the carpet. So, so far so good with my little wrigley! I love her to death! Thanks again guys
