puppy hickuping?

Hey yall,


Lately Iv noticed that my 9 week old pitbull pup has been hickuping a lot. Well im not sure if its actually hickuping but thats what it sounds like. I'v noticed this sometimes after it wakes up and also sometimes after it eats. Or today it just started doing this out of nowhere. What does this mean? Could it be crying? Is it scared? It sounds like hickups but im not sure, does anyone know? Thanks

I have had pups who were notorious for having hiccups too. As yours, sometimes after eating, sometimes out of the blue for no apparent reason.
I never worried about it as my daughter also used to get them alot as well as one of my grandsons.

I would say if it seems to be excessive or to be extremely long episodes mention it to your vet.

LOL! You should hear the hiccups my girls have. They're tapering off now, but when they were young pups . . . Shiva's could shake the sofa. She'd get them mid-snooze sometimes and they didn't always wake her up. She'd just lay there snoring and hiccuping. Kharma gets high-pitched, squeaky hiccups - very strange sounds coming from such a big puppy. Bimmer got them sometimes when he was still a young puppy, but they were silent. The only way you knew he had them was by watching him.

It's just a puppy thing, and as Poodlesmom said, nothing to worry about unless they seem to go on for very long periods and your pup seems distressed.

i was going to ask this same question i was kind of scared that somethin was wrong.. bcuz u rly cant hear chases hickups but u can feel them lol
