Agility classes start in two weeks time. I have been working on 'watch me' and hope to have this sorted with distractions by then, which I hope will help but was wondering what would be the best preparation other than this, in the opinion of other agility members?...bearing in mind the short amount of time left.

Work as much as possible on a solid recall. Also make sure she has her sit and stay down well.

Good Luck! :)

Thanks I'll work on those to then. She can do lots of stuff, it is just the distractions of all those ppl and dogs that are a bit of a concern.

Sounds like you need to bring someone in that is accomplished in training. As for the distractions, "LEAVE IT" and then hand signal should do it. Watch Me should have been done at 10 weeks and after.

I am the Queen of distractions, lol, since I had to train various animals in theme parks with rollar costers, sky buckets, etc, I have acclimated animals for the most exteme conditions. Email me if you have any questions.

Agility has been postponed :( i keep phoning them but the guy is very busy at the moment and the equipment is still being fixed, so I have to phone again to see if it is on this week. i was getting really kinda excited about it to!

Thanks for your imput Amy. yes I guess that watch me should have been taught a long time ago but this is one heck of a steep learning curve for me... Minnie is my first dog. Dogs are a bit like kids LOL. they don't come with instructions. I have never really wanted a dog and had not even walked a dog before, never mind all the house training and stuff!!!! I agreed to getting a pup after a lot of umming and arrring because my partner REALLY wanted a dog. The training and looking after, seems to be my job though! Hmmmm I'm not sure what happen there. He says that he has never come across a dog like her LMAO. All the dogs he has come across over the years have been very obedient without much effort. He is convinced that male dogs are much easier. I will probably be taking you up on your offer of help at some point LOL. I need every bit I can get. The agility training that I hope to be attending very soon does actually have a half hour puppy session first (which is not agility) so I am hoping that that will help with her basic obedience to.
