I am interested to know what those who are more educated in dog breeding think of parti poodles.
I know they can not be shown.
However, are they considered "designer mutts" or are they still purebreds?
Also, are they as healthy as "normal" poodles?

I have a 6 month old poodle who is quite crazy enough to keep me busy, I am NOT looking for another one right now, I was just curious, as I think they are really adorable.

Thanks Elissa

I know that Parti Poodles can not be shown. I don't really know if their is a health issue that goes with these dogs' markings (kinda like a white Boxer or a Dappled Dachshund). I really don't think a Parti Poodle is a designer dog, although any breeder who is trying to breed these is a bad breed. But they might show up in a responsible breeder's litter, and that is no problem. (Kinda like a White Boxer.)

So these are normally accidents?

I thought they were bred from one white parent and one black parent.

Parti colored Poodles are poodles. Parti just mean they have 2 different coat colors like white/black as an example. You are right, they can't be shown AKC since they are disqualified but I've seen and read many that are being shown through UKC. The only thing I worry about parti colored poodles is when breeders breed for color only and neglect other factors such as health, temperament and conformation. You'll see many byb selling them just like you see those selling teacups. But I'm sure there are some good breeders out there, it's just a matter of finding one.

Yes, they are allowed to be shown in UKC. I saw several partis at the UKC Premier show last June.

Responsible Poodle breeders get very few marked puppies.

The dogs I have seen in competition at UKC shows have been long, low on leg poor examples.
