Well, 2 weeks ago I had Cisco in the vets office because he had red itchy rashes come up on him and he started loosing his hair in small spots all over. Vet did a scrape and said it was a bacterial infection (not sure if this is connected to today's incident but thought I should mention J/I/C). He gave us antibiotics and creme and instructions and sent us home. Rash is gone and spots are begining to grow hair back. Today I came home and he had gotten into some stuff in the house - which he RARELY does (Again, may or may not be connected). When I let him out to potty I noticed SEVERAL bumps, almost like mosquito bites, all over his lower back above his tail. Here's some pictures...anyone seen these before??

I'm pretty sure it's some kind of alergic reaction but he seemed fine...was as perkey as ever and didn't act as though the rash was bothering him. I had some of the creme left from 2 weeks ago so I put some of that on him. My husband will be home in a little bit so I left him a message about it on his cell to check it and if it's not gone down any to take him back to the vet. The pictures don't show nearly how bad it really looked - it was AWFUL!!

No he's not on flea preventive other than flea shampoo. We've never seen fleas on him so we've not started him on it, give him flea baths every week just incase (plus he loves baths)...figured if he got them the we would.
What did he get into in the house?
LOL - well, someone dug a foot deep hole in my flower (weed) garden this morning so if it were him it could be that. He chewed up a blue dress shoe which apparently got blue dye all over the carpet from his wet slobbers so it could be the dye or shoe material and he chewed up one other thing which I'm too embarassed to mention although I'm a consenting married adult and I shouldn't be (lol) but it could be an ingredient in that. I think that's all he had (at least that I found). My husband would be home my now and I'm sure he'd have called me if something were wrong so it must have went away or is almost gone. I hope so because we're supposed to leave for a weekend vacation tomorrow and he's supposed to go with us. Do you think it'd be safe to travel with him with those whelts on him like that (if they're still there?)

Oh, I'm sure it would be safe to go on vacation with him. But, I might would let the vet take a look at it one more time before you go. I'm sure it's nothing serious. Just irritated skin or a reaction to something.

Flea allergies? Is he on a Flea Preventive? What did he get into in the house?
You beat me to it!! That looks exactly like all the flea bite dermatitis cases we saw in the vet clinic. Some dogs are so highly allergic to even one flea bite that that's all it takes and they break out just like your dog! I would make sure your dog is on a good quality flea control every month like Advantage or Frontline. Don't use the ones they sell at the grocery store!
