I checked out your website, great looking dogs, and they are work dogs also.
You should be able to understand better than most the difference in a working dog and a companion dog. The normal dog owner could not compete in the sport you do with the same success without learning about the history and the needs of such a dog. It works the same with the pit bull.
A person could not take their cocker spaniel and compete against your dogs. They also could not take the same dog and compete against a working pit bull.

Pancho ... you are here with dog lovers,,,,,,,I personally don't feel you fit in . You love your dogs for what they can do for you ( whatever that is ) , not what you can do for them . You may not own pitties now , but your statement that you have owned and trained several hundreds really opened my eyes ! Dober ,k we posted at same time ... I agree . Adiós Amigo !
You are correct, I do not fit in on this forum. I was asked to join and post info about the pit bull. I was told the people on this forum wanted to learn about the pit bull from a person who had experience with the breed.
I have found this to be false. The breed is being ruined by those who say they care so much for the breed. They are ruining the breed not from uncaring but from simply not knowing the traits and history of the breed.
They care very much about all dogs, all breeds, but refuse to learn about why some breeds respond as they do. They would completely loose the breed rather than admit to the true history of the breed. Rather than trying to learn why a breed acts a certain way they will continue to make excuses.

The pit bull ban will continue grow, more cities will join, and soon there will be entire states that ban the breed. It has already happened to entire countries. There will be those who will try to hold out, those who will hide their dogs, those who will try to fight the bans. Their numbers will decline each year to be replaced by those who do not know the breed, those who will try to reshape the breed into something different, those who would like the pit bull and their history to forgotten, by those who will try to rewrite the history of the breed.

When the time comes and the pit bull is banned completely those who worked so hard to pass the ban will be free to concentrate on other breeds. It will become easier to ban other breeds as they will have a plan that worked so good before. There will come a time when the ban will continue until it comes to your chosen breed. The reason will no longer matter. They won't even have to have a reason for a ban. The people who had a breed that has already been banned will work along side those who want all breeds of dogs banned. They will remember what others have done to deprive them of their chosen breed.

I do thank the person who asked me to join and try to pass on what info and experience I have. Hopefully it hasn't been a complete waste of time. Maybe there is at least one person who will have developed a curosity about the breed and its true history. Maybe there will be one person who will decide to research the breed.

The pit bull breed is loosing its base supporters and they are being replaced by those who don't know the histroy, have no experience with the breed, and would rather change the breed into something else.

The breed cannot be saved by those who do not breed. It cannot be saved by those who adopt the unwanted and the stray pits. These people do a lot of good for the species of dogs but little for the breed. The breed can only be saved by those who breed the pit bull. When they are forced out the breed will disappear.

I will be leaving the forum. Good luck to all those who care about their dogs. Hopefully it will be many years before their breed of choice comes under attack.
