40lbs is awesome! Everyone has a slip up every now and again. Stick with it and keep up the hard work. You're doing great.

Nancy, get the protein in vanilla. You can add frozen strawberries!

If you can't get the psyllium down, try Citrucell. They have a formula that dissolves completely. Psyllium tends to be a little, er, thick and slick . . . . so if you're not a swallower ;) you'll probably have a tough time with it.
does the citrucell swell up and occupy stomach space like the psyllium does? I'm willing to try it if it doesn't taste too bad. I would rather die with the flu than to have to swallow nyquil or hack all night coughing than to take cough medicine. I've always been like that when it comes to swallowing nasty stuff..ewwww. And nasty THICK stuff just sounds putrid.

It does. It's a bulk fiber. Just realize that any of that kind of thing is also going to have you in the bathroom on a very regular basis - which isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially when you're dumping weight.

Here is my plan for becoming fit:
I dont drink soda
I cut down on sweets as much as possible, occasionally is ok.
I drink enough water in the day.
I eat small things throughout the day, in addition to breakfast lunch and dinner, but these meals are small. Eating small things boosts your metabolism.
I excersise every day for an hour or more.
I take vitamin supplements

They key here is to build a sustainable healthy lifestyle. Not to diet. You want to stay healthy and keep up the results. Best wishes, and remember, you can do it!

I've FINALLY gotten off the weight loss plataue I've been on. I saw as low as 313.5 and as high as 318.5 So, the trend is still going downward. Just the thought of getting below 300 is so exciting. I tried on a dress that was too small and it fit me perfect... was even a little loose on me. This still doesn't seem real to me. People keep saying I look like I've lost weight, but when I see myself in the mirror I still look like the same obese person I've been for years. But my skin is DEFINATELY getting wrinkly and it's awful. But I'd rather have wrinkly drooping skin than excess fat. So, I will keep plugging away at it.

WOW Nancy!!! This is great! What are you eating?:yikes::lol-sign: I need to get my butt motivated and I am just so confused right now. Are you eating three times a day? I found this site http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/index.php and I have been doing a lot of reading and I am thinking of doing the south beach diet. Any insight you have would be greatly appreciated. I'm on a tight budget so that is really making this hard for me.

You should be EXTREMELY PROUD of yourself! The weight you have lost is no small feat.:)

It has taken me FOREVER to find this stinkin' thread....lol. I almost gave up after scrolling through page after page. Anyway, I just thought I'd update my weight loss progress.

It's been really slow going these last several weeks. Mostly because I'm slowly slipping back and forth with my eating habits. I'm still very conscious about what I eat and still make relatively healthy choices most of the time. But my hunger has definately gotten the best of me on more than one occasion and I've over eaten.

I've also gone out to eat more than I should have, but none of it was a fast food place... so that's good. It's a daily struggle for me. But, so far it's been worth it. I'm starting to notice differences.

I got on the scale this morning and it actually said 309.5 lbs!! That makes my weight loss a total of 46.5 lbs so far. I was a bit disappointed when I saw two different family members recently who haven't seen me since my surgery back in December and neither one of them noticed I had lost any weight..... it made me wanna cry. But it's okay, I know I've lost it and plenty of other people have noticed... at least they say they have.

I'm hoping to get more on track and really start a good exercise program to help fascilitate the weight loss. I should be losing it a bit faster than I am. I hate waiting for results...lol. But in retrospect... 46.5 pounds is actually a lot of weight to be lost in 3 months.. so I guess I'll stop complaining now.

I'm sorry.... I never saw your post. All I a doing is cutting down on the fat and calories and watching my serving sizes. I am trying to make sure I walk at least a mile or two 3 days a week.. I really should be doing way more exercise than that.

I stay away from fast foods, most packaged foods, liquid calories...etc. I don't eat carbs with every meal anymore. I switched to wheat pastas and rye bread since the rye bread is the lowest I've found and it's always been a favorite for me before I started this whole "eating healthy" kick.

I don't hardly use butter anymore, I don't add a bunch of useless calories such as sour cream on my potatoe. If a junk craving gets the best of me I make sure it's a better choice of "junk" food. I have taken a liking to the pretzel crisps that are very low in fat and tastey. I also like the organic blue corn tortilla chips. They still have fat and calories... but they're a better choice than the regular ones that are loaded with the saturated fats and high calories.

46.5 pounds IS a significant reduction in three months, Nancy :)

Just don't get disheartened if it slows down for awhile. That happens, but it will come off gradually, then plateau, then all of a sudden several pounds will drop away.

Yeah, I know it will be up and down through this never ending weight loss journey. TJ has lost a total of 10 pounds.. which is good for him considering he's still eating junk and drinking regular sodas and sweet tea..lol.

I just can't wait to get under the 300 mark!! Maybe another month or two and I will be able to brag about that victory.

Keep doing what you're doing. I'm so proud of you. Weight loss is a slow process, but the slower you take it off, the longer it stays off because you slowly get used to a new way of eating.
