Need some advice, my golden boy is sick

A few days ago I took KC to the vet for breathing problems. The vet took xrays that showed a mass in his trachea.

We have a referal to NC State vet school to do more testing to find out exactly what it is.

Has any one dealt with something like this, if so what was the prognosis. I'm at a loss right now, I'm freaking out that I may have to say good bye to my boy sooner that I ever imagined. We're not worried about the cost for this, I just want to make sure that I do what's best for my boy.

Just trying to set myself at ease with this.

Don't think the worst until you find out for sure. After King had begun treatment for Cushing's Disease, he seemed to have a tumor in his nose. Even the vet thought it was nasal cancer, and I was very upset. My mother was a basket case, as King and Molly were the last two dogs of mine that she would help raise. Turned out to be a fungus infection of some kind, and after a couple weeks on an anti-fungal drug, he sneezed it out, and then ran over and ate it before I could get it. That was almost 3 years ago, and he's still alive and well. I hope everything works out for your dog.
