Every dog can live in an appartment as long as they get lots of excercise, and walks. There are probably lots of breeds that will match this :)

corgi would be good, there are a lot of breeds that could fit that bill. most dogs will bark at intruders, even people just walking past :) corgi, pug, pomeranian, dachshund...just a few.

yeah, there are tons that could be a good fit. I would look into what size you want, what look you like, make a list and narrow it down, research reasearch research.

Maybe King Charles Spaniel, Corgi, German Spitz, Miniature Schnauzer, Scottish Terrier, possibly a Westie. Everyone else is naming small dogs, but I didn't see you say that. Great Danes can actually do quite well in apartments as long as they get exercise. I know a Cocker Spaniel that does really well in an apartment. I'm sure there are tons more too, this is just a top of my head type of list. www.dogbreedinfo.com is a good place to start your dog search, as it gives concise descriptions of breeds with pics. Good luck!

Miniature Schnauzer, Corgi, Dachshund or a King Charles Spaniel. But My step-dad's mom has 4 Dachshunds and they are great gaurd dogs! Mainly the big brown male, but her other are great guard dogs too.

I have a dog who fits your description almost exactly and we beleive that she is a Corgi/Schipperke mix. She is an excellent guard dog (barks whenever someone she doesn't know comes in the yard), extremely intelligent, plenty of energy, and she gets along great with my 2 other dogs, 3 cats, and 4 guinea pigs. So I think either of these breeds would be great.

An australian shepherd. They are great house dogs.....they love their families, they are usually a little shy towards strangers, so they will bark. They also come in really neat colors. I've had a few :)

They also have mini aussies now too. Cute little devils

I would go w/ the Mini Aussies or Standard size. They are pretty neat dogs! They shed A LOT though, but with some brushing everyday that shouldn't be a problem I would think.

ok, thanks, i like the ideas of corgi, dachhounds, great danes even.
lol, I thought of omething that will probably narrow down the list, I'm not big into fluffy dogs like maltese and poms and that.
hmmm... not so much into scotties (i heard they just sometimes refuse to houstrsin) or pugs (jus my opinion) or poms so much.

but thanks still.

If u don't like fliffy dogs get a Lab or Dachshund. Labs are great dogs. My younger sis has a Black Lab and she started calming down at about a 1 or so, but I think getting her fixed helped ALOT!! They are great watch and guard dogs as well.

I reccomend a Bichon Frise or a West Highland White Terrier. The Westie is more of a barker, but I prefer Bichon Frise. They are wonderful little dogs!
