7 hours a day seems an awful long time to leave a puppy alone.
I live in a flat on the 3rd floor and when i had to start housetraining Bailey i would take him outside to pee every hour or everytime he woke from a nap.
If i had to go out for a few hours then he would be locked in the kitchen with Training pads.
Even now b/c i don't have a garden he is taken out to pee 5 times a day....2 of these being a long walk, the other 3 just to do his business.
