My male JRT was neutered yesterday. *happy dance*

He is a star - an exceptional little guy! With the right handling he probably would have gone on to excel in the show ring and at hunt trials. It was because of this that I then sought out a female that could be a potential mate for him. Unfortunately she doesn't come from good lines (none to be exact), nor does she follow the right breed standard.

Everything about the purchase of our female was just so wrong, but the sad part was that I was lulled into complacency because the "breeder" was a "friend", or so I thought. Lesson learned!! Anyway, now that I've learned enough CORRECT info about this breed, I can't tell you how good it feels to have them both spayed and neutered.

I'm enjoying becoming more and more involved with the breed and learning from REAL mentors, not BYBers who sweep the issues of this breed under the rug.

Anyway, I just thought I'd share. I can't believe that I came so close to supporting an industry of crook dog breeders. OI!!

Rhino is actually a therapy dog. He has completed his CGC and TDI and works in hospitals and clinics that do IV treatments. He helps patients who are affraid of needles. It's amazing to see someone go from having a near melt down, to being able to handle an injection just by him sitting in their lap.

He has also excelled in the local obedience ring. We're still planning on doing a lot of terrier fun days/trials, but therapy work is his calling.
