Yeah, they don't really care that much though. To them the dogs are just dogs. They love them and take care of them and everything, but they are still just dogs in their minds. They figure whatever they will eat is good enough.

Dog food

You might explain to your friends parents that is really does not cost any more to feed a quality food like Canidae vs. a supermarket food like Pedigree. Before I started reading about different dog foods and what they were made form I fed Bella Pedigree. After some research I switched her to Canidae dry mixed with some Inova canned. She is doing great in it. When comparing the cost of food you must look at the amount to feed. With Pedigree the recommended serving size for a 50 lb. dog is 4 cups a day with Canidae the recommended serving size is 2 cups a day. Even though Canidae is about twice as expensive per bag then Pedigree the cost to feed is about the same.
Our previous dog was fed Pedigreed and developed skin problems in his later years. The cost of the vet bills will far exceeded any saving from purchasing cheap dog food. Inexpensive food is false economy IMO.

I tried explaining to them before that if they bought a better quality they would be feeding less, have less health problems (probably), and they'd be pooping less, but they didn't really get it I don't think. They still said it cost too much for something like dog food. I told them it would save them money since you feed less of it, but they didn't get that either and insisted it was still spending more money. *again  * They just are stuck in their ways I think and won't listen to a 17 yr old *one more time*
