Uhh, Grammy I'd rather not remember the smells of wal-mart. I usually have to cover my nose. LOL

Hey 96 GTS,

Sorry mate, didn't mean to get your dander up. I posted something sent to me in it's entirety. I suppose that last line might come off as a slap- though I never take this kind of thing that personally.

I remember roaming like a little wild child from dawn to dusk during the school holidays with a total freedom that I will be unable to ever give my own children. That is why it touched me. Don't take that last line to heart. Though I didn't write that piece, I doubt it was meant that way.

Those that remember these things were not brought up in a time that was better than yours - only a time that was simpler. Consider the advances in medicine, communications, technology...

One thing I love about my children's life is their exposure to the world. They are aware of different cultures, lifestyles and religions in a way I never was at their age. I think that is a great thing.

At 43 I am not ancient but I am sorry for the freedom I had that I can never give my children. Please just look at the poem/essay as a nostalgic wander down memory lane and ignore the last line.

I remember playing "Simon and Garfunkle" with my brother. He was Garfunkle, the Indian, and I was Simon, the Cowboy. We didn't know who they were but we thought they were great names!

lol - Ahhh I remember it well.

I think ANY kid looks back fondly whenever they were born, because there IS such a thing called "the innocence of youth".

I SO wish I were a kid again. The only thing I ever worried about was what we were having for dinner. Water balloon fights, fudge brownies, hot summer nights, rolling around in the grass, pretending you were animals or dinosaurs, wearing what was only comftorable, not caring about my looks or boys, not knowing any curse words, waking up at 6 in the morning for no reason, eating 10 pancakes in a row, running around bare footed, getting covered in beach sand from head to toe, going to my grand parents house for the summer, having tea parties with friends, the Brownie Girls Scouts, only eating mac n cheese, having 3 bowls of cereal for breakfast...ah, I cant name them all! In a way, I dont think I will ever grow up... I long for the good ol days.
