Awful ads other places too. Check these 2 ... how sad for these poor dogs!

Classified Ad #618329 - Female Westie sale or trade for a sugar glider
I have an AKC female westie that is a great dog.would love to be a lap dog.would make a great pet shes a loving dog.I am asking 350.00 firm. This is the 5 time i have came down on her price and shes worth too much to come down more. needs TLC if you think you can provide for her please call ...
:::sigh:::: Get the feeling there's untold reasons they want her gone? Wonder how much they were planning on making off of her originally, since this is the FIFTH time they have "come down on her price"?
"Needs TLC" translates as "matted as all heck because we never bothered combing" ... the poor dog looks very matted in the picture they included.

Oh yeah ... they never mentioned in the Westie's ad that she's not spayed and they let her have a litter with a Chihuahua ... check out same person's 2nd ad where they're also trying to sell the resulting Chi/Westie mix puppies.

Classified Ad #623693 - Chihuahua/westie Mix Puppy For Sale Or Trade
I have an 11 week old male chihuahua/westie mix pups they looke like a full blooded long haid chihuahua needs a new home fast i am asking 100.00 O.b.O . you can call ONLY after 4 or e-mail me thanks
a.) Why don't they just surrender that poor Westie to rescue instead of trying to make a buck off a dog they never took care of?
b.) Why don't they also surrender to rescue the mixed breed puppies they irresponsibly produced?
c.) If they can't even handle basic care of a little terrier what makes them think they can possibly handle an exotic pet like a Sugar Glider?!? (Small nocturnal marsupial native to Australia ... not domesticated and it requires special handling and a specialized diet.)

::::sigh:::: ... idiots!

I check hoobly and craiglist every few days to see if someone is looking for a dog and I always tell them to look on petfinder and shelters near them,
Also if I see someone who is getting rid of there pets for free I always say never give away your pets for free because you will get unresponsible people.

I see ads like that all the time.
I spend alot of time in NLClassifieds looking for stuff and come across all kinds of ads like that! :(

I want to say tho...yes,it is better for people to charge a small fee in most cases, because alot of idiots are attracted to free...but not all! I have "adopted" pet rats from free ads, because otherwise the poor guys would prolly end up as snake food or worse. So I just wanted to say not everyone that responds is an idiot. But I totally know what your getting at!

I will sometimes email people and ask them a bunch of questions as if I were interested and well sadly many people avoid some of the questions!

OMG if they can't handle a westie there is NO way they can handle a sugar glider. I used to keep them. Their diet ALONE is a friggin pain the butt!

My personal favorite from Petfinder this week? "Bo is the best dog we have ever had. He is a 10 year old yellow lab and we have had him since six weeks......blah, blah, more on dog....the reason we are giving him up is because we have two little boys 3 and 5, and he is just too old to handle the abuse of little boys."
So, we don't train the children, we get rid of the dog.

Oh how lovely. Such a great thing to teach the children.

So then .... perhaps when the boys grow up and their Mom and Dad finally get "just too old to handle" then the boys will "get rid" of their parents too?

Ya know, the more I learn about people ... the better I like my pets.

People need to know what they are getting into BEFORE they choose a certain breed of dog. And I guess people just dont want to train their dogs, or children for that matter.

I find a lot on backpage.com

A bull-oxer? New breed of dog!!!

I work at a shelter, so whenever I see a 'wanted' ad, if it matches one of the dogs in my shelter I give them a quick email with a picture and contact info.

There are a lot of bad ads, but the site can be extremely useful.
