I don't know much about allergies... you might try switching to a grain free food if you haven't already... Have you had any allergy tests done yet? Could be grass or detergent or chicken, etc... Good luck with that - ear infections are no fun!

It looks like he's a hairy eared dog. Do you pluck out the hairs from the inside of the ears?

Sometimes a grain free food will help like TOTW. I've also heard lots of good things about Natural Balance Duck & Sw. Potato food helping.

I'm not a fan of Hills at all, but if he truly has such severe food allergies, you might try Hills Z/D to at least see if it gives some relief.

You might also have the allergy testing done anyway. My coworker has a dog who is allergic to just about everything under the sun (food AND contact..even rice) and she was able to find a food he does well on.

I'd also make sure the vet does actually see him for the ear issues at times, rather than just refill each time. Sometimes there can be other causes of ear infections (bacterial, etc) even in a dog who has routine ear problems.

If you aren't having luck with Duck/Potato, try Venison or Bison. Switch them until you see improvement.
My allergy kids are now on Salmon/Sweet potato from Costco and doing well on it.
