I read an astrology report for my star sign that said this was my year. What a load of b****cks! The last three weeks have been unbelievable and now just to pop a little cherry on top - NITS! :yikes:

Aaaargh! I noticed my daughter scratching but thought that was related to the allergy she took to meds so just distracted her without taking a close look. My son seems clear but I'm sure I have them too.

I can't believe it and feel so disgusted and itchy. At least school is out for a week so I can be sure as gun's iron she's clear of the little monsters before going back. This is my first experience of this.

I've done an over-the-counter treatment but am not sure that is going to do the trick. Any mums have any advice for me? Especially on ways to prevent any recurrence?

Ugh! I feel for you, my girls suffered this a few times during elementary grades. It is passed around school very easily :( especially if you keep long hair, which my girls did.

The over the counter stuff works ok, but you need to be very sure to get all the eggs or "nits" the shampoo WILL NOT KILL EGGS! The last time (about 4 years ago) they had it I found a wonderful comb for the eggs........it looks like a row of fat needles (about 2-3 inches long) with a flat plastic top (handle) Use a cup of boiling water, comb and dip, comb and dip.
Wash everything, coats/hats...bedding etc... and Vacuum, vacuum, and more vacuuming! And poor boiling water over the combs/brushes used in the house.
You will also need to treat with the shampoo again in about a week to ten days.

Maybe your year will get better, it's still early :)
