A few days ago I posted a question about low thyroid levels. As it turns out, my vet was mistaken when he gave me the information over the phone. When we met to look at Lucky's tests, it turns out that he actually has an over-active thyroid.
I have been looking on the internet for more information about this, but most of what I have come across is for cats. It is very uncommon in dogs.
My vet has never come across this before, which worries me.
Has anyone heard about this or experienced this?
From what I have found out it is difficult to reduce these levels but easier to increase them. It was suggested by my vet that the thyroids be removed and Lucky treated afterwards as if he had hypothyroidism. Such an invasive first step worries me. The recovery period is 2 weeks with a feeding tube required.....
Any suggestions?
