A good friend of mine who is living in peaceful Sedona has a neighbor whose two dogs bark incessently whenever my friend goes out to his back yard. He can't work on his landscaping or even sit and relax with a cactus maragarita without the dogs barking like crazy. He's spoken to his neighbor many times about it but he does nothing. He suggested bark collars, but the neighbor can't be bothered with it. Can you believe how rude that is?! I told him to just keep calling animal control and maybe the guy will get the message. Or, have the other neighbors talk to him also. This guy gives dog owners a bad name!

Are there deed restrictions in the neighborhood? There are rules about dogs not being a nuisance. I would contact the neighborhood organization if you have one. Have other neighbors contact too if they are being bothered. They may get the message to do a little training. If not, you can always call law enforcement. If they are not being caregivers in this area, they be neglecting their dogs in other areas too.

I went through the same thing last summer. Two dogs constantly chained and and uproar every time I went outside, especially with Tosca. It was very very irritating as I felt uncomfortable on my own land and had a sense these dogs would just love to hop that fence and attack. By the end of the summer, enough people had complained to the police but it didn't stop. Unfortunately, the owner started letting them loose early in the morning and late at night. One bit a child and was removed from the household. The second dog was gone shortly afterwards.

Yes it is rude. Unfortunately the kind of people who do that with their dogs couldn't care less and are generally lousy dog owners to begin with. If there are codes regulations on barking dogs in your area, I suggest your friend complain often and loudly. The people will be citated enough to either do something constructive or rehome their dogs.
