Hi,
I am a new member to this site. I'm looking forward to learning more about my new puppy. I know there is lots of knowledge here. Looking forward to picking your brains. My newest family member is an 8 1/2 week old purebred boxer that I rescued last Friday. He is fawn with a black mask and white blaze. He has a white blaze on his chest and 3 white tips on his toes. His tail has not been docked but we're taking care of that next week. I'm going to leave his ears natural. I have 3 other dogs, 2 outside full-time and one inside. All 100% American mutt. I also have 2 outside cats.

Hi and welcome to the forum!! I absolutely love Boxers, they are my second favorite breed, behind pit bulls.

Is there a reason you are getting his tail docked? It's something that should really happen when they are 2 or 3 days old so it causes much less discomfort and practically no recovery time. At this point I would probably just leave it be, it'd be much more like a major amputation at this point. Of course the choice is yours in the end!

I would love to see pictures of all your dogs and love to hear more about them, what's everyone's names?

I hope you stick around and enjoy the forum :D

Congrats on your new puppy.

I was also going to say that normally docking of the tail is done when a pup is only a few days old.

Hi, thanks for the welcome. My puppy is a rescue (although purebred) and the parents' owners didn't dock his tail. He's 9 weeks old, if he's going to be a house dog, this long tail could be a problem...lol.
Still thinking about it though.
My other dogs are a female yellow lab mix (also a rescue) that my daughter named "Goldie", she's about 3years old. My son's dog is a bassett, chow, lab mix named Shadow because as a puppy he took every step my son did, he's about 2 years old, my husband's dog is a pomchorkie, as in pomerainan, yorkie and chichuaha, she's about 4 and her name is Li'L Foxy Girl. We call her Foxy. I also have two cats, Mama Cat and Belle.
I'm the animal person, my husband not so much.
