Hi to everyone on the forum! I just joined, and look forward to getting to know all of you. I'm a moderator on another forum (won't mention the name ;)), and somebody there mentioned this as a good place.

You can call me Lolo, which is my real nickname too... I'm a (nearly - in 12 days) 32 year-old single woman, and work as a librarian/manager in the San Francisco area. I'm the proud momma of an almost 3 year-old mutt named Rudy, and two kitties - an 11 year-old Siamese mix named Kona, and a 7.5 year-old Blue Persian named Cyrus. We also have a roommate with a dog and cat, so it's a full house!

As for Rudy, he is a 42 lb. unknown mix, who I adopted from the Humane Society in January '06. I actually had a (breed) DNA test done on him last year, but the results were inconclusive. They only had 38 breeds to test for back then, but now there are over 100... so they offered to re-test for a nominal fee. I should have the results any day, and can't WAIT to - hopefully - solve the mystery. I'll post a "guess the breed" thread later, and maybe give cookies to posters who guess correctly. :D Anyway, here is the adorable Rudy Valentino...

Hello & welcome to chaz. Rudy is very cute. His head looks like an Australian kelpie & his legs & feet look a little like a chi. Can't wait to see what the DNA test shows.

Welcome to Chaz! Rudy is adorable...
As for DNA tests... wait till you meet Buddy, a 'bichon mix' owned by Buddy's parents. :)

Really? Do tell...

Thanks to everyone for the welcomes, and Rudy says thanks for the compliments too! Oh, and I agree he looks like a Kelpie... check out this picture of one:

Looks JUST like him!!! Unfortunately they still can't test for that breed, so I'll assume that's the answer if I get another "inconclusive." ;)

Thanks! We have LOTS of great dog parks here... do you know what neighborhood it's in? Our favorites are McLaren Park (Visitacion Valley) and Bernal Hill, where I took these pictures:

This one is featured on the website where I got his collar

McLaren park!! That is it! I forgot the name. I will probably get lost when I do go (me and my friend plan to go again in late November, our friend lives there and we visit her often) and this time I want to bring a couple dogs with me and go to the dog park. That park in the pictures looks fun!

McLaren is near my house, so Rudy & I would be happy to escort or direct you. :) It is tricky to find if you don't know that part of the city! Oh, and Bernal Hill (from the pictures) is a blast... easy walk to the top, and you get an incredible view of the city. That one's also tough to find, but it's off Cortland Ave. in the Bernal Heights neighborhood.

Not to overload you with pictures, but here's what McLaren looks like... bring a coat, 'cause it gets COLD up there!

Rudy's afraid of the water, but likes watching the ducks!

Bavkward_Cinderella kinda already made mention of it. Buddy'sparents is the one you want to talk to about DNA tests. She got DNA tests done on her dog Buddy and well... turns out every breed the DNA results said he had in him was nothing at ALL like he looks... just trust me on this one... I'll have to browse around and see if I can find the thread.

wait... I just found the link...

Pretty funny... :lol-sign: Guess we'll see what they say, but Rudy could honestly be ANYTHING the way he looks - will be tough to know if they're bogus! ;) It only cost me $75, so not a huge deal if I don't get a good answer.
