Hi everyone in the forum,

I'm new to this forum, so I'll take a few lines to introduce myself. I live in a place called Whyalla in South Australia, it's an okay place. I own a tri-colour border collie called Loki, she is one leg away from her JD title and is currently competing in open obedience. My other dog is a Border Collie x Collie called Flash, she is starting her CCD trialling this weekend. Strangely enough Loki is nearly 3 and has done really well, and Flash is coming up to 6 years of age and is just starting out. Well I hope to chat with some of you in the forum about agility/jumping etc in the future. But I do have a question for anyone concerned, how old can puppies be before they start agility? I've been told, 6 months, 9 months and 12 months. :)

There's an agility forum where you can post your question about age to start, or you can post in general also.

You have very cute dogs.

You can start a puppy on the very basic foundation stuff at 10 - 12 wks, work on your basic obedience first but you can have your baby walk over bars on the ground, teach nose touches, and hand targeting, have him or her walk on different surfaces, a board with a thin dowel underneath it so it moves slightly. Things like that but the most important thing is to build that bond and let your baby be a baby, there's plenty of time for agiltiy

Hello & welcome to chaz.
I was told 2 yrs for serious agility. A puppy shouldn't do any jumping until at least 1 y/o or weaving. I guess all the other suggestions are ok.
