all I can tell you is that his word means nothing if he's not doing it for himself. I can tell you from experience with drinkers... they never quit for anyone. Her boyfriend has to realize that his drinking is a problem and that he needs to quit for himself.... and that in turn will make everyone else happy.

Do you live with your boyfriend now? If you guys do a lot of fighting, it's only going to get worse when you move in together. You will have to sit down together and see if you can figure out why you fight. I'm sure you can make it work. It might be tough at times.. but if you're both committed and dedicated... you can definately bring the fighting to a minimum. They say some fighting and arguing in a relationship is healthy.

Saving money is hard... at least for me. I found that literally making out a monthly budget plan and putting it right on my desk so I can see it and follow it.. helps me with my finances. Maybe you could put like 50 bucks a week in a seperate account. Have it taken right out of your check so you never even see it. That 50 bucks a week will add up before you know it. And if your boyfriend would do the same... you'll notice a big difference in your savings.

I hope things work out for you. I know it can be very difficult living with family members. But some people prefer that and don't have any difficulties. Maybe it was just me, but I hated my sister living with me and I hated moving back home for a few months right when I graduated from high school (long story)

Goodluck and I hope your mother's boyfriend is serious when he says he's going to quit the drinking. He will need a lot of support and encouragement. Maybe even some support group for him to be able to be around others who are also trying to quit drinking.
