Down the road from me is a convenient store that I visit quite a bit. I was just there and there is this dog that hangs around there alot. She has a collar but it is just a white rubber collar, no ID or anything.....

Anyways this dog today was following me whenever I walked past it, and I went into the convenient store and asked if they knew where the dog belongs.

The lady said yes, she belongs across the parking lot to a house that is right beside a very busy highway, to a lady that used to work there. The girl told me that she lets the dog run loose, and too many people have fed the dog at that store and so it always comes back.

I am frustrated as I dont want to drive by one day and see this dog dead on the side of the road!! People go so fast through that area.

What would anyone here do?

The dog is friendly, I almost brought the dog back to the house to wake the owner up (4:45 am) to tell her how dangerous it is for her to let her dog run at large like this.......

Then I figured she wouldn't care and almost decided to give the convenient store number my name, and number, and to tell the owner that I took her dog home and to call me if she has a problem with it.

But alas, I just drove away, I am not sure what I should do about this dog

It's really bugging me

I don't feel like I can just ignore it :(

Did anyone talk to the owner yet?
She may listen, you never know, it has to be worth a try.
Then if she doesn't listen call AC and then as a last resort take the dog and leave your name and number.

Okay, thanks, I'm not sure if anyone's talked to her yet, I guess I will go down and have a word with the owner.

AC= Animal Control?

I suppose also I will warn her in advance that if I see the dog there again I will be calling them.

Always best to speak with the owner 1st........maybe she is a little on the slow side and just doesn't realise the danger her dog could be in, a talk from a friendly face could make all the difference for the dog :)

Yes try Animal Control if you still see the dog on the streets after speaking to her :)

Okay I went back down to the shop, the dog was gone, however I talked to the worker there who gave me her cell number. She said that she has talked to the owner about it, and the owner always says "She's not running loose, she's locked in the yard."

Well....Hopefully she will get a clue when I give her call.

-Thanks.
