This post has to do with hunting. If you are opposed to hunting start another thread about it and Ill go there and argue with ya.
I just realized that Buckshot has been teaching me and I didnt even know it. I went on an antelope hunt this weekend and I couldnt bring my dog unfortunately, but he was there in spirit. I was driving my Pinz down a small trail in the brushy northwest of Colorado when a herd of antelope ran in front of me. By the time I got out, and set up they had covered quite a distance. They slowed down at a small hill top that the lazer range finder said was 378 yards. I singled one out that was alone so the bullet wouldnt hit anything else and then squeezed the trigger. I heard the bullet impact on meat, so I knew I had a hit. When I went over to where my target was, I lazed the Pinz to check. I didnt find any blood, I looked all around the area that I had shot and there was no trace of the antelope. After about half an hour I decided to change my search pattern into a large circle, like Buckshot does. As I was walking I caught a whiff of antelope. I didnt put it together at the time but I walked into the wind and found the antelope laying in the brush.
I have had hard to find kills before and relied strictly on eyes and ears to find them, checking for blood, hair and tracks. Buckshot has been eating like a king since I got back, I am so glad he prefers the parts I dont eat.
RD, you would have loved it, I went through 2 miles of sheep with dogs working them, it was very impressive. I couldnt imagine 15 men being able to do what those few dogs were doing. It was kinda sad though, one dog that was out there working had a nose full of porcupine quills. I think if my face was full of quills I would call in sick.
