Would a boxer of over 9 years need a special diet? i have herd that old boxers need a low protein food, any advice?

What about supplements?

I am not sure about boxers specifically but my older dog eats California Natural: Chicken and Rice.

From what I have read about the subject, unless a health problem dictates a special diet, any GOOD food is fine.

I hope someone else can be more helpful.

From what I understand, feeding a low-protein diet is not beneficial for older dogs, although they may need to eat much less food, overall, as they start slowing down.

My senior dog eats an all-life-stages premade raw food and does very, very well on it.

I'd feed (or rather, am feeding) something high in protein, but low in fat, as they do tend to pack on the pounds easier, since they're less active, and their bodies simply don't need those calories.
