I had to get the urine smell out of the wood floor in my one room and nothing was working. I searched the internet and there was a secret product used by professional cleaners: Downy fabric softener.

I poured some of the Downy on the wood floor and let it stay there for about an hour and then took a wet sponge and cleaned it up. Miracle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It worked!!!!!!!!!!!!! The floor and room no longer smell.

I used Downy april fresh scent. I don't know if any other fabric softeners work, the article said to use Downy and I happen to use it on my clothes.

What about Vynal flooring?? my one room, where Riot likes to roost. Smells of urine when your kneeling on the floor, I could only imagine what he can smell when hes laying down.

I've mopped it NUMEROUS times with Lysol. but it just doesn't seem towork for the deep down smell..

Do you think Downy would work for that as well??

You know, just using nature's miracle I've never had any problem with urine smell on my floors. Good to know though.

Don't know about the vinyl floors, but it's worth a try. It does smell good afterwards. I never thought I'd get rid of the urine smell and not it's gone!

vinegar neutralizes the ammonia in urine. works really well. you'll smell the vinegar until everything has dried thoroughly, but then it's all gone.
