I have two cats that I got at the same time from the animal shelter. One is a grey and black tabby and the other is a siamese. Well, actually he's probably a siamese MIX, as he has orange points and faint tabby markings on his leg and back. But he has the blue eyes, siamese voice, and a kind of siamese-ish nose, so . . . ;)

If you're into rescues and like siamese, just keep checking the shelters. Every time I go into the one around here, there's at least one siamese cat. Often KITTENS, too! :O

Yup, two male "soulmates". RJ and Lucky. RJ is a ginger tabby and Lucky is a black DLH. Both have gorgeous yellow/green eyes. RJ is almost 8 and Lucky is almost 9. Both are still in excellent shape, nobody would ever guess their ages by looking at them.

Also, it is pretty much taboo these days (at least where I am) to let cats be indoor/outdoor pets. I understand the concerns, and would be heartbroken if my pet ever got hit by a car (Rocky died of kidney failure), but I can't imagine keeping a cat indoors all the time. It doesn't seem fair. Since I can't handle my conflicting beliefs, I just don't own a cat.
This is what will prevent me from having cats in the future. My two are indoor/outdoor cats (RJ can be inside for 3-4 hours at a time but Lucky really dislikes being inside) and I can't bring myself to keep them indoors all the time. All the stimulation I could provide wouldn't be enough for my hunters.

Perhaps when my cats get older, they will mellow enough to be strictly indoor kitties, but at this point being confined all day just makes them miserable. It might be easy for people to keep cats inside if they've been inside all their lives, but mine just don't like it.

But yes, I totally understand and this is why I probably won't be getting another cat after my two pass away (they don't like other cats to begin with, so no other kitties can live here while they rule the roost). But who knows, I may find a shelter cat that steals my heart and can handle being indoors. *shrug*

I understand the indoor/outdoor dilemma also. My last cat was indoor/outdoor, and he lived to be 19. He started out an indoor only cat because we lived in an apartment complex, and we were afraid he would get lost going outside. Even so, he, at one time pushed the screen out of the window and got out. He would try to get out every time the door was open. When we finally had a house and yard, we let him start spending some time outside. He spent the rest of his life going in and out as he wished.

Our current 2 cats are indoor only. One is very content being indoor only. She would never wish to go outdoors. Too scary!! The other one would like very much to go out. He will find ways to sneak out from time to time. He will rush out when we open the door, without us even knowing he was hiding close by waiting on the door to open. Fortunately, it's not a constant thing, but he sure would be happy to get outside every once in awhile.

I will always have cats, I'm sure. I am torn on whether I will force them to stay indoors if I have a relatively safe area for the to go out. I know any time they go outside, they are subject to getting to roads, etc., to some extent. That will be something I will have to decide as time goes on.

I also plan to probably adopt an older cat next time. Maybe an older cat will be content to sit by the window!!

I LOVE CATS!!!

I don't own any that are *just mine* there are 2 family cats that don't really belong to anyone. I want to get a Sphynx though as soon as I turn 16. I want one now but I don't have any money and I want to take care of my cat right...

Also, anyone know where I can find a good breeder? I see a lot online, and they even go to cat shows, I've even seen a few champions. (or so they say :rolleyes) but I could use some help! ;)

Yup I have two males (I really don't like female cats AT ALL) Rooney he is a indoor white and orange Tabby just a year old. He is my baby and is a dog in a cats body. He loves the Crazy Cockers and they all play chase together. Then there is Weezer our outdoor cat who really comes and goes as he pleases. He is a year old too and is a healthy fat boy who sleeps in the garage at night. Alot of people think its cruel but Weezer has lived like a year like this and has never had any problems. We cannot bring him inside because he and Rooney will fight.

I will always have a MALE cat. I just love their personalities and there is just something about them I love. I love just about any animal you set in front of me really. Im not picky or a snob about it lol.

Also I was highly allergic to cats. And sometimes I still get itchy or start sneezing like crazy. But I never let it stop me im stubborn like that. Im also allergic to birds and dogs ;) .

There are Sphynx Rescues all over the place. You can get a purebred possibly registered cat for a lot less then directly from the breeder. Plus it is a LOT less work with all the screening you would have to do to make sure you find the best breeder and not some mill or BYB. Search petfinder.com in your area, you wil be suprised. Plus you will be saving a life as opposed to promoting one more being brought into the world when there are already so many without a home.

oh haha well of course, I don't think sphynx is all that common is it? Maybe a sphynx is one breed you won't be able to find in a shelter. I know there are rescue groups though. If anyone is interested I will ask on a cat forum I go to about it.

I've never been a cat person. But I've owned a few cats over the past 15 years.... three to be exact. The first one was a little butterscotch colored female nearly frozen to death in my garage. I took her in and got her healthy and decided to rescue her a friend from the humane society. We got a black and white male tuxedo cat. They were great with one another.

The problem was with my 3 rotties I had. I did my best to get them to get along. But after a year or so of separating them in different rooms and constantly worrying if someone left the bedroom door open... we sadly decided it wasn't safe for the cats to stay with the dogs trying to kill them every chance they got. The last straw was when I was laying in bed petting butterscotch and one of the rotties nudged my door open and came up to the bed and seemed all nice and innocent. I thought it was a great step forward because she leaned over and sniffed the cat and didn't growl or anything. Then all of a sudden it was like jaws... she came out of no where and snatched the cat right out of my arms and took off with her. I could hear the cat screeching. I leaped out of bed and chased after the dog who still had the cat hanging out of her mouth. I yelled "drop it" several times and she did. The cat was fine... just a little wet with slobber and a few puncture holes on her sides that the vet said were mostly superficial.

So, we had to rehome the two cats and we found two lovely families to adopt them and promised to love them and care for them. It was really hard to let them go because I felt as though they had become part of our family despite the fact I was never a cat person. But for their own safety I knew I Had to let them go.

Then about 4 years ago I snatched up a neighborhood cat that was being abused and neglected. He practically lived on my doorstep. The neighborhood kids had been shooting him with a BB gun and throwing rocks at him and he was sooooo much in poor health. He had been in a fight with another animal and had a terrible wound on his foot. I called the humane society to see what I could do because he was not my cat. They told me if the cat was abused and neglected I could press charges against the owner. And that if it was abandoned I could keep it. Well, we agreed that since the cat was malnourished and injured and left to fend for itself outside it was technically abandoned. So, we suddenly owned a chocolate point male siamese cat who has turned out to be the best cat ever.

He sleeps with us every night. He is so loving and trusting despite his horrible life he had to endure before we scooped him up. He went from being an outside cat to an indoor cat and adapted very well. He is so content and loves us as much as we love him.

do you own a cat

Well in my home we have a Zoe of animals.. I the dog trainer.... and the old man and the daughter the cat nuts...

We have a total of 8 cats in our home all of them well behavied. The dogs and the cats just adore each other. They know each others space. Mind you Miss Candy is the one that rules the roost where all the animals are concerned. No one gets away with anything around here with out her telling on them.

Now as far as my adult dogs are concerned. The two Shepherds and the Dob, mess with the cats and you will have to mess with us. It is kinda cute. Now the 4 pups they just think the cats are there to chase to that part is a little annoying

Well I dont own a cat right now, but I did have an outdoor GORGEOUS Siamese mix female. She was poisoned, and from that day I swore I would never have an outdoor cat again. That was about a year ago and I finally felt I was ready to have another cat.

I found a woman who rescues and fosters, and after speaking with her I decided I would like to give one of her foster kitties a forever home.

So in about 3 days I will be receiving Sessy, a 7 month old spayed female Calico (with lots of white). I feel excited, and I finally feel like I will do right by a cat, and that I can make up for what happened to Kitty.

Aww, I am really sorry for your loss. :( But congrats on your soon-to-be new addition!
