Move the houseplant out of reach, put a gate up around it, or put the puppy on a leash or in a different room. A 16 week old puppy shouldn't really be out of sight - because they will find trouble to get into - unless they are confined to a puppy-proofed area.

Also, make sure she has ample opportunity to play with suitable toys, and interaction with you.

It's not only a matter of training, but also a matter of safety. I've had dogs get into things that are toxic, I've had dogs want to chew electrical cords, I've had to have surgery ($1500) to remove an item from a dog's stomach.

As a sidenote, make sure your houseplants aren't poisonous!!

And move them out of reach.

(Crap, that reminds me, I'd better water my spider-plant before it joins the plant graveyard.)

I agree with all of the above AND,,how much exercise/interaction with you is she getting???

WHile it isn't uncommon for a 4month old to not be perfectly obedient, barking excessively, is in my opinion, an attention seeker,,whether it's good or bad it's attention they are looking for.

I don't think dogs disobey "deliberately".

I have an almost 10 wk old puppy, she sits, she downs, she has a pretty darn good recall , and sure she has her moments,,but she is a puppy and I don't expect perfection.
I also spend alot of time with her, (hey it can be worse than having a kid!)

I don't mean to be harsh, but I see alot of "negative" things in your first post about what she does and what you do,,,how about working on the positives??? I reward lavishly for "good" things,,and if not ignore, redirect the 'bad' things..

Obedience class is a good start, exercise is a good thing,,more one on one time, working on the little things..helps also..

Good luck just my 2 cents
