Yeah.... those companies will sweet talk you into what sounds like a great deal until you find out the details. Usually they'll say that you need to save up a certain amount in a given time, pay them their fee's while trying to do so, and then you realize that the amount you need to save is essentially everything that you earn, so you can't make their deadlines. In return, they take your money and leave you to the dogs.
OH, and you also need to still be paying the credit card companies during the whole ordeal too.
My advice, other than don't ever think of hiring these guys, is to sit down with you and whoever you're living/ sharing expenses with, and figure out how much money you can save. Stop eating out, stop buying name brand foods, only drive when absolutely necessary, stay home and watch movies instead of going to the movies, replace all the bulbs in your house with energy efficient ones, and try to use those only when needed. Shut off all computers and what not when not in use. Basically scrape by and try to save as much money as possible to pay back their debts.
