Last night Chance was barking hysterically at 2:00 a.m. We did not take him out! at 2:54 a.m there was a horrid odor coming from his kennel! He had diarrhea. So I took him to the vet today and it turns out that he had an ear infection, a skin infection, and clogged anal glands. I asked the vet what may have caused this and she said that sometimes puppies just get these ailments! Good grief! I suppose it's the price I have to pay for taking a puppy from a kid who was going to get evicted for having him in the first place!

Well, Chance is doing a little better now, granted he is very lazy from the benadryl, and just exhausted from the visit to the vet. I must say he is such a friendly guy. Just so happy to see all the new people and tons of kisses to the staff, despite the awful things they did to him there. He would cry from attention and if none was granted he just lay there watching everyone.

I am so proud of my big guy! And I just feel awful about ignoring his cries last night.

Wow Mamabear. Now I feel bad for advising you to let him cry. :(

I hope the guy gets to feeling better. And I think I'll stick to asking for advice for awhile, as opposed to offering it.

Oh no don't stop offering advise stunnedmonkey! I love it when you share! I should have been able to tell the difference between..... I gotta go! and I'm bored.

I think I'm getting it though, his I'm bored is like a growl at first turned into a listen to me bark. Not aggressive just a short rrrrrr before the bark. And I think the I gotta go right now bark is a very high pitched persistent series of barks with some short wines in between.

Thanks for the good vibes people he needs it, his tummy is kinda pink and he won't stop licking it. Hopefully that clears up soon!

It's very important to realize the difference between " I want out, let's play" and "oh boy, I really gotta go". We had this down pat for all of our dogs quickly and they soon realized they would NOT be let out of their crates if they wanted a romp around the yard. They also know they will NOT be let out if they are barking/whining. They catch on quickly. :)

Hope your pup feels better soon. :)
