Sometime in the next couple of years I'd like to travel to California. Never been there. Have one cousin who lives in San Jose, but that's pretty much it.

There are a few really big dog shows I'd like to attend. And I was thinking it'd be fun to take extra days off and do some sight seeing at the same time. So, what is cool to see in California? I like tons of different things. Outdoorsy stuff, museums, historical stuff, etc.

Suggestions? I don't really have any idea where to start except maybe the national parks, but national parks also don't allow dogs except service dogs and I'd probably have a couple along for the show.

Also, if anybody has tips for how they outfit vans and stuff so dogs can be safely left unattended in the summer (like fans or AC that goes all the time or something?) please let me know! I'm trying to figure all this stuff out.

While national parks tend to ban dogs, a lot of times you can bring them to designated areas within the park. You can see a lot of Yosemite with a dog.

National Forests are plentiful and typically allow dogs.

I would be careful about leaving dogs in a car here. People tend to overreact to that stuff here.
