Braiding Leather?

Does anybody know where to find good tutorials on how to braid kangaroo leather the way folks do for making show leads? I'm not really interested in doing it commercially, but I would LOVE to make my own leash. Maybe a show lead for practice, but what I really want is a 6' black leather kangaroo lead that is thick and sturdy with awesome hardware. Because I am a dork and can't bring myself to actually buy a leather leash when none of the leashes out there are what I really want and tend to be more than $100.

Though since buying the leather, learning to braid, and making a number of leads, I decided my girl looks super fancy showing on a drapy, loopy Resco... that I bought for $15...

Ill warn you kangaroo lace is expensive. a spool of 5/8" black will run you like $70, even tho it will make 4 or 5 leads, thats a pretty hefty initial investment. Iv looked into it and the general consensus is that Y-Knot sells the best quality lace
