Ever since I had Carry put down, Boomer has been so depressed. I can't seem to cheer him for longer than 5 minutes at a time. He's matured so much these last 2 days its scary. I miss that hyper pup I used to have. Right now I'm not in the financial position to just go and get another puppy as a friend for Boomer and I have no clue what to do... I will be hopefully in a weeks or so.

Any ideas???

Im sorry i cant give advice, as i've never had this experience, but i just wanted to give both you and Boomer ::HUGS::

i'm sure this is what you are doing...but just giving him tons of love, lots of his favorite treats and toys...and nice long walks, where both of you can reflect.

I had this with Chip when Bubba died ....I think it was more his feelings for me , since I was so depressed . Finally , we just cuddled up one night and had a " talk " ........I told him that Bubba was gone and he had big shoes to fill . I told him how glad I was that he was there for me and that I would not dwell on my heart wrenching loss. He and I would move on ...and we did .

I know we'll get through this but I just feel so bad for Boomer right now. He pretty much lost the dog that taught him everything. All he does is sleep and follow me around. He used to just follow Carry around. I really need to get some money and find another puppy.

That is so sad. My sister went through the same thing with her Yorkie, Mollie when she lost other Yorkie. Mollie was not the same dog for several weeks and then she seemed to adjust. She doesn't act the same even now, she changed some but she is over the grief phase.

I'm not sure. I want to get a puppy because it'll be easier to train and so I know exactly where its coming from. I want to meet the mom and dad and see how they are. I don't want to have to worry about another genetic illness.

I still have this problem with Hershey, since we put Sugar down, he has never been the same.. :( I don't know what to do.. I have been cheering him up for months now! It is hard... Sugar taught him many things.. And I don't know what I could do.. Shadow was a great success, he liked her, until we had to get rid of her. :( Now he is depressed again. I am very sorry for your loss. Good luck! Oh yes! Labs and Goldens, are great playmates together! ;)
