I'm not really sure where to post this because I don't know if it's medical or psychological.

Zoe is 3 1/2 year old very healthy lab/border collie mix. I work from home, so am around her most of the time. Since we've had her at 4 months, she's been house trained, and I often leave during the day for a few hours at a time, no problem.

All of a sudden, she's started peeing when I leave. Last week, I noticed she had peed on her bed, and just thought maybe it had been a while since she went out (though I take her out about every 3-4 hours routinely). I chalked it up to an accident.

Today, I took her out three times. The last walk was at 2:30 for half an hour- she did pee while on the walk. Then I came in and did some work. At 5:00 I ran out to do some errands- when I left she was laying on the futon next to my desk. Came back 20 minutes later and she had peed- a LOT on the futon! She also acted overly excited to see me like I'd been gone for days. I didn't chastise her because I just didn't know what to think, and fear it might be medical.

What the heck? She has tons of energy, doesn't seem sick in any way, when she does pee outside doesn't seem to have any problems doing so.

Is she upset that I leave? Why would this come on now when this has been "normal" for us for over 3 years?

I'm stumped- help!!

I would take a urine sample into your vet. I routinely take Pebbles out through out the day so I didn't really notice that she was peeing more or not cause she 'tries' every time she goes out b/c she knows if she doesn't she has to stay outside until she does. :p Well I came home to 2 pee accidents in 1 1/2 weeks which is so NOT like her. She was scheduled for her shots so I took along a pee sample just to be safe. She had the beginnings of a UTI. Not full blown, the vet said I caught it VERY early. There were only a small amount of mucus and a few red/white blood cells present it it. Point is she was acting 100% fine other than the accidents. I caught it before she started getting super uncomfortable and started peeing blood. 2 weeks of antibiotics and another sample and she'll be good to go.
