I bought two cans at a dog show I went to this past weekend and my Yorkies loved it, it looks and smells like great. The reason I am trying something new with them is because I am having a hard time finding a canned food they like anymore, I usually buy the Pedigree for small dogs and it's to the point where they wont eat it.They free feed dry food (Bil-Jac) and I only give them about a half a cup of wet food in the evening.

Any feed back available on Evangers?

It looks good, although I'm no expert. Canned food is terribly expensive though, so I personally won't feed it. Dry food is good enough in my opinion.

the canned food they make is really good stuff. some of it is 100% meat with nothing else added at all. they even have a line of organic canned food.

the dry dog food is not as great but still decent, roughly comparable to the "life's abundance" brand.

if i were you, i'd stay away from the bil-jac, it's not a good quality food at all and among other things very bad for the teeth. you'd even be better off feeding all canned food.

The Evangers is expensive but I will buy it and thanks for giving your opinion on it. I did take the time to look at the ingrediants on Evangers web site to see if any of the indgrediants to stay away from listed on your website and didnt find any at first glance.
I had no idea Bil-Jac was not good, any recommendations on dry food for small breeds?

i can make quite a few recommendations, but since i don't know what's locally available to you, or where you buy, that's a little difficult.

the standard recommendations i make are pretty much anything made by natura (innova, evo, california natural, healthwise, karma), eagle pack holistic, canidae, natural balance etc.

Not to but my nose in, but I have small breeds and thought I could mention the foods that I have had good results with:

~Innova EVO - they have never looked so good, and their breath has never been cleaner!
~Solid Gold "Just A Wee Bit" made especially for small dogs and is my second favorite. This has a higher fat content of 18% and I feel the small dogs do very good on this formula.

Hello all, Since this is my first post, and i'll be commenting about my experience with Evangers food, please don't think of me as a troll , or a schill, i actually found your site , after a search , to get to Evangers website.
To start my story off:
My cousing has a dog training/boarding center, and one day i was in the kennel room visiting my cousin, i noticed a can of Evangers that a boarding customer had left to feed their dog while being boarded. I mentioned that i knew Evangers from the "old days" and kinda commented that i thouhgt it was low grade food,(i think that that was the feelings,30-35 yrs ago. My cousin said read the can ingredients (cooked chicken BTW) Ingredients were, whole chicken, sufficient water for processing,, surprized me to say the least!
a yr goes by and somehow my cousin got in touch with Evangers, and checked them out at a trade show. From then on , he tried a small selection of their product line, and it sold well.(at the time cans only) Not a can food feeding personb myself, but i tried a few cans for my Doxies and Shepherds,, added to their dry food, was using Euk and Iams maint. food. They LOVED it!
Now we are noe going to the manufactors plant to pick up food for my cousin to sell at his shop.We both have had a tour of the plant, and saw from start to finish the process,, We were told that Evangers uses pretty much "people" grade food for their product, and happened to see the chicken they used , and it looked just like what we would buy at a grocery store, (no beaks and feet LOL)Whole chicken, just like any of us would buy for ourselves, and water,,,that's it! Their product line is selling well at the shop,,and one day The owners of Evangers tell us that they are coming out with a dry food, think it's in 16.5# bags, plastic lined bags w/ ziplock top(if that matters to you out here., I had just adopted another German Shepherd and found he was allergic to the dry food he was on, and the Euk i was giving him,,so i was told to try Canidae,,,it worked , but now i had to go three different places, at three different times to get for for everyone here. And it got old fast, LOL,,,My cousing said try try the dry food from Evangers, he had used it with his home dogs, and found his Dobe , which was a picky eater, and could not take in enuf food to fill out enuf , loved the Evangers dry, and was putting on weight,,and his other dog's coats were looking better than they ever have.I tried the Evangers with my dogs(all of them) and the allergies went away, and everyone looked fine, if not better , overall.
So needles to say , i switched everyone over , and they love the food.
Sales of the dry food have gone very well, he has customers pick up 10 bags at a time, and has even had people from 50-60 miles away drive over just to get his food.
Do yourselves a favor, and check out Evangers website:www.http://evangersdogfood.com and read about the product line, their history, the owners now had bought the plant about 6 yrs ago , or so,and have revamped everything, and rethought the product line, and are adding things all the time. You will not believe the variety of canned food they offer, rabbit, venison, "hunk o' beef" (a large piece of cooked beef w/ it's own juices)a veggie line, and seafood(?) and many varieties of beef, chicken etc. with some assorted different ingredients, stews, etc.
I tried the canned foods , to add to the dry one period for my Doxies, as soon as the can was opened they went wild! and "wolfed" down the food.

Sorry for such a long post for my first time here, and want to say again, that i have NO financial or other interest in this product line, and i'm not saying all this just because my cousin sells it, since it's fairly improbable that my post here will generate sales for my cousin.

Just wanted to offer my experience with Evanger food,,and give i big thumbs up! :D

Anti-Evangers story

i've been feeding my dauschund evangers lamb and rice canned food for about 1 1/2 years. The other week, in 3 separate cans of food, i found small shards of bone. I am now extremely concerned. He won't eat any new food, and i'm scared to mix in the old food. I just wanted everyone who was considering this food to know.
