Any comments on Pet Insurance?

If any of you have ever heard of pet insurance, and have an opinion about it, I would love to hear it.

There are several companies out there writing it, and I have been researching the different plans.

I also have access to getting a discount on a certain plan.

I think there's pretty mixed reviews on here regarding it.
We are planning to because our dog (dane) is particularly prone to quite a few health problems and if disaster struck 6 months down the road we would be hard pressed to cover the necessary treatment.

I considered it many years ago and decided to take my chances to put aside rather than buy a plan . As it is , over 50 years I would have lost mega bucks . I've been lucky , I've never had a catastrophic bill with my Goldens .
