Abby was small because her mom was
kinda small but still within breed standards. What made Abby even smaller was pure
luck. She was the runt of the litter and once in a while a pup will come along that is very tiny and we jumped at the chance to have a smaller Aussie. The breeder could not use her to show or work because of her small size.
Anyway, at 14 weeks old Abby weighed only 7-8 pounds.
No, she's not a "mini" Aussie, just born small by pure luck, chance, genetics, whatever. Her mom and dad were standard breed size for the most part. Actually, "mini" Aussies are created taking two small ones like this the breeder said. Sometimes though you have genetic problems in "mini" Aussies because they are not typically
suppose to be like that!
Regardless, Abby is our pride and joy. Hopefully she will lead a long, healthy and happy life with us.
