There's a lot of story to this dog, and if anyone's interested and wants the full detail, PM me and I'll explain, but here's the jist of it.

This is Swiper.

He's a 9 month old Mini Aussie (with a tail... even though he looks tailless here) and he's a puppy out of my mom's bitch, Rhyme, and my sister's male, Morrie. He was sold to a family that assured us he was going to be his forever home, and then we found him on Kijiji last week for sale. There's a lot of middle story there, but it's long and drawn out.

He's now looking for his real forever home. We had him to a horse trade fair with us this past weekend. Lots of people, dogs and even horses. He was amazing. He can tend to be a little stand off-ish at first when meeting new people (more so men) but is very good after he meets them and even started to offer going to meet men as the days went on. He met all kinds of people and dogs of all ages and mannerisms. Even had a little girl walk up and take the tug from my hands (without asking!) and take it from him, but he was okay with it.

He likes toys but, so far, will not try real hard to get it from other dogs, but I did get a serious game of tug going on with him at the fair this weekend. He's a very smart boy, you can see him thinking things through -- it's adorable. He'll catch onto clicker training very well I suspect and he's very eager to please. He just wants to be loved.

In his previous home he lived with a cat, I believe, and a young boy. He's great with kids but can be a little rough on cats... Just doesn't know how to "play" with them.

If you want to know anymore about him, please, PM me. :) If I can't answer your questions (I know him strictly on a personality/attitude/drive/ability scale, mom knows the more complex things) then I can direct you to Mom. I do know he is recently neutered and is up to date on all shots.

If I didn't have Simi or Crash right now, Swiper would be staying with me. I really like him a lot. He puts me in the mind of Psyche. That same sweet, soft personality that wants nothing more than to make you happy and is very clean in their affections.

I forgot to mention, he's a larger dog. I'd put him at 19 or 20 inches tall and probably 35-40 lbs. He's pretty close to Psyche's size.

-------------------------------------------------
Please don't bash me for mom's breeding. I didn't encourage her to breed dogs, but she does the best she can to produce well bred, well tempered dogs and as her child, I can't stop her. I just have to settle that at least she does it smartly.

I think you should call him Temporary and then...oh wait that didn't really work out as planned for the last person that did that ;)

LOL! No, I already have one foster failure. *cough*Crash*cough*

But actually, he was Swiper as a puppy here before we sold him, and they called him Sterling (WHAT THE HELL KIND OF NAME IS STERLING?!) and I hated that, so he's back to Swiper so I can say "SWIPER NO SWIPING!" (the whole litter was Dora the Explorer themed).

Oh, he's gorgeous! I wish you could keep him, but since you can't, I hope he finds a loving forever home. (Who won't sell him on Kijiji!) I'm so glad you found him before it was too late.

P.S. If anyone rags on you for your mom's breeding, tell them to go stuff it. You're not the breeder and many of us know what it's like to be a kid with not much influence over what happens with pets.

To be fair, in terms of Mom's breeding, Morrie is a very well bred dog with a very nice pedigree who earned his Puppy Championship (but we never went any further because there aren't conformation shows locally), and Rhyme is a well bred dog, too. And she doesn't breed often, so I do suppose it could be worse... but it's not my favorite thing Mom does.

Swiper is ADORABLE. A very nice dog. I am really hoping someone will take him and work him to his full potential. And I'd love to keep updated on him. :)

She didn't do their tails because here in New Brunswick vets won't do it anymore, and although some breeders will cut tails on their own, Mom isn't one of those.

I also tend to feel that dogs are born with tails for a reason. It makes me cringe a little when I think about the fact that tails are a part of a dogs SPINE... Mom has cut tails in previous litters, however when the law passed that vets won't dock them, she wasn't all that upset about it. The tails add character. :)

Oh, I'm not bashing your mom's breeding program. I know zero about it. I was just referring to anyone who has a problem with the breeding for whatever reason and argues with YOU about it. So many people have gotten flamed for things that are under their parents' control, not theirs. That's all. :)

I wish I could take him! I've been wanting an Aussie for a while. I feel uncomfortable with smaller dogs out here, so for a mini Aussie he's actually like a perfect size for me. :p
But I've got my hands super full right now.
Sending you lots of vibes for a fabulous home to find him. :)

I didn't take it as you bashing mom's breeding program. :) I just wanted to point that out, is all.

He's a super nice boy. Really, if there was more than 1 month between him and Simi I'd be pretty likely to keep him around, but *I* have 4 dogs right now. 3 of which require regular training and huge amounts of mental and physical stimulation, I just can't add a fifth dog into that routine. And mom's already paying me to train Rhyme's weaves, so she clearly doesn't need another dog right now.

AgilityPup, what's your opinion of him in reference to SAR? Any potential?

I honestly haven't done a whole lot with SAR or looked into it a lot, so I don't know what they require. If you could link me to somewhere that it explains what they need I could do a comparison of what I already know about him to what that tells me a dog would need... I've only had him with me less than a week, so I haven't really gotten to see the true him yet, I don't feel. However, I'm really liking what I see. We're not in a rush to get him out and I'm going to be trying a bunch out with him to see how he is with a lot of stuff.

I don't know how much loud noises and such he'd have to deal with with SAR, but he can be a little skittish of loud noises... well, no, let me rephrase that. If PEOPLE raise their voice, he's a little "oh no, was I bad?" but recovers quickly. I think he was probably at least yelled at a lot in his old home, if not smacked a little, but he shows no fear of hands, and will even let me play smack him while tugging.

I like the tail, too. Rhyme, the mother, has a tail, and I loooooveeeee it. And puppy tails wagging for the first time are sooo cute.

Thanks, I'm really hoping the perfect home comes along for him. He deserves it.

What's one more? **stares at the 5 dogs taking up 78% of the bed**

I love this.

My niece used to say "Oh man!" on command in response to this, and it was the cutest thing ever. I made her say it a million times one Christmas. :)

That's all I have to add. No more puppies for me! ;)
