Basically it's the fairgrounds for millers and BYB's where they can just set up an x-pen full of pups and wait for some sucker to come by and purchase a pup. There's one of these that is regularly held a few hours from me on the Missouri side and a good friend of mine had actually taken a tour...at the time she knew *very* little about how to find a good dog, but even she knew these dogs were bad...

What is a puppy expo? I'm genuinely curious...
It is like a huge pet store basically that they run kinda like a flea market.

They are set up either on weekends or a few times a month or something and they get dogs from all over of every breed and bring them to one place to sell them.

This is not meant to start an argument only to answer the question but they are almost always puppymill dogs.

How is your little pup getting on now?

I have a 9 month old Yorkie named Alfie and we work during the day which meant that we were away 8-9 hours a day. But our little pup is now well house trained and can do lots of tricks. It was a matter of keeping an eye on him whenever he started wondering about sniffing and just getting him in the act. We used wee wee pads and now if he can't get going outside he goes there. He was ok with being left alone when we were at work. We did feel bad about leaving him on his own so we got him another puppy to play with and to keep him company but he wasn't too impressed with that so we had to rehome the little puppy as it wasn't fair on him. Alfie kept fighting with him all the time so he is really quite contented as he spends all the rest of his time with us playing, working and walking.

I was also off work for a few months when he was younger, not by choice, sadly my father passed away and I was able to spend more time with Alfie when I was on bereavement leave.

I have no advice but want to wish you luck. Spike was 1.6 pounds at 9 weeks and I know he had to potty often. He is fully housetrained (and has been for a month) But it was taking him outside every 1hr or so and lots of praise and treats. I couldn't imagine getting him housebroken if he was home alone all day.

This is going to sound like a really naive question....Why is it that an adult large breed can hold their bladder for longer than an adult small breed?

My 6 pound guy can hold it all day. He has been able to since he was 6 months old (we potty trained him while we were in school, so he rarely had to hold it that long when he was a pup). He sleeps with us, and on weekends he doesn't ask to be let out until well past 8 hours (it has been up to 12 hours before!). He tells us when he needs to go out. I think it really depends on the dog.
