Yesterday he had diarrhea once. The rest of his poos have been solid and normal since then. Last night he started heaving like he was going to throw up, but he never did until this morning, about 3 hours after breakfast. It didn't have any alarming color or weird things in it. He seemed to think it was a pile of food and it was all I could do to keep him away from it until I could clean it up. He's been playful and for the most part completely normal otherwise. He went poo after throwing up and it was totally normal (I was surprised he still had anything in his stomach).

I'm inclined to think he just ate something he shouldn't have and his sensitive system is just having a reaction to it, but I wanted to get opinions if anyone thinks it might be vet-visit-worthy, or if there's anything specific I should keep my eye out for.

I woud watch him. Puppies can and do have OCCASIONAL vomiting and diarrhea. If he is acting normal/playful with no more V or D than I wouldn't consider it a vet worthy episode. If he hasn't had a check-up and fecal exam yet then I would take him in for those things immediatley. Some types of intestinal parasites can cause occasional V and D.
