2014 Official Chaz Fitness Challenge

Yesterday ended up being about an hour total of marshaling at the RC track (flipping over cars). I was the only one with 1-8 cars going at a time... got my cardio in, hahaha.

With 2lb dumbbells
30x lying flies
30x palms in shoulder presses
60x alternating shoulder presses
25x seated side lateral raises
25x lateral raises
25x front raises

No weights:
30x leg raises each side
30x inner thigh pulses each side
2x 40 second plank

Ran as far as I could, which was more than I was expecting since I have a bit of a cold and shark week just started, but holy hell. I am so out of shape, lol. I got a quarter of a mile in 2:45, then walked an additional .75mi. Going to shoot for three tenths of a mile tomorrow or the next day, and continue upping it from there. Hopefully I'll be able to do a full mile without stopping in a couple of weeks.

I have a few 5K's under my belt. A good friend from church is planning to run the NY City marathon, so, while I'm not planning to do a full, I'm going to start training for a half that runs right through my neighborhood in June.

So, new year, new goals.

Woohoo Eddie! Yesterday was a rest day, were about to go run around the dog park for an hour or two!

I have a cold...boo! But I still dropped 2lbs this week, I'll take it :)

Can we change the title from "weight loss" to "fitness"?

Walked around the dog park and chuckit'd for about an hour and a half yesterday! Saw lots if awesome dogs. Doing it again tomorrow.

Not sure what I'm going to do tonight, but I think I am going to hold off on running until my period is done, because ow cramps. :(

Thanks!

Today was 1.7 miles up to the dog park, walking 3ish miles in the dog park (a good part of that with Abe, Zoey and Katey!), and then 1.7 miles back. I am exhausted. Might do some yoga later.

Em slept for an hour and is now back to throwing her ball at me.

Nice!

I've been back to running lately. I'm up to 4 miles a day now. Used to be 8, but I'm getting there.

Weightlifting is going well. I've stagnated a lot, but the muscle building portion is a really long process anyway. I'm up to 191 pounds, so it'll be time to cut back on eating again to drop back down under 10% body fat and see if I gained some. I'm hoping I gained a couple pounds at least.

Nice, RBark! 4 miles is great. I'm pretty embarrassed by how hard running is for me, but I'm working on it.

People who run, do you take your dog(s) with you?

There's nothing embarrassing about running being hard. I've been doing it on and off since before I was even a teenager. It takes some time to get used to it for anyone! Just keep at it. It doesn't get easier, but it lasts longer.

My dog hates going running with me. And he's a terrible running partner even on the best days. He gets bored easily. I could train this to some extent but, it's just no fun feeling like you're forcing someone to come along.

I enjoyed running with my boy, Ollie, before he passed. Priscilla was too young to ever have gone running with me before she passed away at only a year old.

P gets bored. He'll go, of course, he will do anything I ask quite happily, but after about the first mile he starts getting bored. I'm not fast enough for him so he basically ends up sort of trotting along and clearly wishes for something more engaging for his brain. ;P I run to shut my brain OFF so I understand why it's not very exciting for him.

Auggie hates it but he's not built for running on pavement, which is where a majority of my running is done. I've never tried with Pepper because that just sounds like a horrible idea.

I take Wesley with me! He cranks out 4-6 miles no problem. When he was younger he was a little wild , but now he's pretty awesome about it. I'll be taking Feist when she's older, not looking forward to training her to run for long periods of time without losing her mind. :P

Bloo is stellar about it, Em gets antsy because I am too slow for her. I did a few weeks of C25K with both of them.

Did about ten minutes of yoga. Felt gooood.

Yoga is great. I've been doing classes again. I did a lot of yoga in my early 20's. I used to be so much more flexible haha. Now I'm stiff as a board. But working at it!

I've started lifting at the gym, am getting my upper body strength back and semi-murdered my legs today. Didn't want to go too hard because I'm snowboarding on Wdnesday and that's a hell of a leg work out on it's own.

Also, running to me is like hiking a mountain. While I'm doing it , I hate it and my life and it sucks but I feel so accomplished afterwards. Sawyer ran with me for awhile but he hates running on leash and especially on pavement, so I've had to start doing most of my running alone. :(

I'm only down 5lbs from this time last month, but I'm noticing a decent difference in how my clothes fit again, so toning is going well.

Yup ..Penn was purchased with 'running long distances' a primary requirement for me! She loves it :) I don't go nearly fast enough to tire her out much (unless it's hot) but it keeps her nice& muscled!

When I was running, yes. Now that I have a great pair of running shoes, I think I'll take him with me today.

My roommates V is a better running partner, but her nails are so long I'm afraid to take her out.
