So, I'm revamping my crew's harnesses for space and simplicity. Those of you who are friends with me on Facebook know I recently got brave enough to take both Harlow and Rider biking together. They did phenomenal and actually paced really well together, so I think I'm going to start joring them paired more often. When going solo, Harlow pulls the bike. Joring them together they more trotted alongside, which I'm completely fine with.

Harlow has a harness from Canadog which fits awkwardly due to her deep chest. I've tried it over the summer and though I like how it is made, there is just too much room in the front and it doesn't always properly disperse and pull where it should.

Thus, back in the market! I've been very drawn to the Ruffwear Front Range. http://dogblog.ruffwear.net/2014/07/29/new-products-explored-the-front-range-dog-harness/

This will also be used for running with me as well as hikes, ect. I guess my main question is, "Do you think this is a good fit for a biking situation where they may possibly eventually pull a little?"
I made a dumb and accidentally posted this in a reply. >.< Hope this works ok...

I'm REALLY itching to hear and see more from this harness before making the plunge. I love the looks of it but not sure with Jackson. It would definitely be our 'hiking' harness and not really used for 'everyday' stuff but I do love the looks of it. But sometimes Ruffwear stuff fits Jackson odd.

I love the look of that harness and will probably get one for Brisbane soon, but I have no idea how well it would work for pulling. All my pulling harnesses are heavily padded around the chest and shoulders, I imagine there's probably a reason for that.

I have two. I will be purchasing two more. I really, REALLY like them! I would recommend (and definitely intend to) using them for what you mentioned - especially if they are not pulling the entire time.

I've been thinking about getting one of these for Ham for hiking. He has a harness for flyball that I like well enough, but I'd llike it to be better padded and sturdy for times when hiking that I need to airlift him up or down rocks.

I am back after a more trying hike with both harnesses.

I do recommend them for biking, even if there is some pulling involved. I had Bloo dig in and pull me HARD (while walking, I don't have a bike atm), and I felt it distributed the pressure really well. I would be comfortable using it for that purpose.

It's really badass for hiking.

EEK! YESSSSS.

This makes me really happy. It kind of looks like it sits close to the neck, have you had any issues there? I'm assuming not since you didn't mention it, but I'm an ask all questions kind of gal. :p

I wonder how this would work on the magical 3-legged beast. The Webmaster works well but the belly strap gets peed on so I only use it when we're going out in public (like the monuments or hiking) so I can pick him up with it quickly.

It is my understanding that it is based very closely off the Webmaster for use as a more everyday harness, thus lacking the second belly strap. I would assume it would work well for what you wanted. :)

I like it more than the Webmaster, and I like the Webmaster a lot. No neck issues! If there were, Copper would have made it known... she can't handle any pressure on her neck without hacking up a storm. :(

Julee and others who have the front range - what size do you have for your dogs?

Watson generally wears medium in everything, but measured right in the small range for the harness (I'm going to have someone else measure him too). Does it run large? Or am I just measuring all wrong? He was lying down and flailing while I was trying to measure him, so that might have thrown it off :rofl1:

Em and Copper were medium, Bloo was small. Shadow will also be medium. I would think Watson would be a medium, since he has a deeper ribcage than Bloo... you can try both of mine out if you want!

I wouldn't be able to get out to CT until October at least :-( I think medium seems more reasonable for him. I'll have to measure him again when he's standing nicely. I could also just order both and send one back.

Well, my mom measured him and got the exact same thing I did, 25", so I guess he's a small (22-27"). I might still order both just in case.

ETA: I just went with the medium, despite his measurements. We'll see. Some of the reviews mentioned being at the top end of a size and having to order up.

Brisbane wears a medium in almost everything, but mostly a small in Ruffwear stuff. I like that they classify my 40-pound dog as small, though this means their stuff doesn't usually fit my tiny rodent. I use a YapWrap harness when my chihuahua needs a handle.

Yeah, this is my first Ruffwear item for him so we'll see. I just ordered the medium because some people online said that they went a size up, but he does measure as a small. I was stupid too and had it shipped up here, but he'll be back home next week so I won't get to try it on him for a while. Now I'm wishing I ordered the small too.

Really Watson is only 25"? I'm going to have to remeasure Hudson, because I would have sworn he was 27" and I don't think Hudson is any bigger than Watson

Yeah, all those feathers make him look thicker than he is. Haha. I got 25", and my mom got 24.5". Also, I thought he was 45lbs but on Monday the vet told me he's only 39lbs. Skinny minny.
