I think we just did this a while back, didn't we? Maybe not as a poll.

I was raised in an American Baptist family. I attend regularly and am active in the leadership of my current church (also an AB Church). While I may not crack open my Bible daily, I do pray frequently through the day and until I moved offices, had several snippets of scripture tacked to the walls at work. I need to get them back up.

So, I voted for number 1.

There isn't an option up there for me so I didn't vote.

I do believe in God, I still pray, I don't believe in religion any more.

Kevin was raised going every time the doors were open, and went to private Christian school. His father is a licensed minister.

We used to go to services every Sunday and Wednesday night. We were youth group leaders (we "taught" class for the teens and arranged activities and such)

The more I saw, the less I liked. I am not talking about the teens/kids......I am talking about the adults. I guess I expected better from them, at least while they were IN the church building, LOL
Thats how I see it too. His Church is not in a building it is scattered throughout the world. And us who know Him won't just accept what ever is thrown at us. I have tried looking for a church many times and I can't find one. You know people look at these churches as for them not for God (even though they deny but thats what they show) and I guess that and these off the wall interpretations is what bothers me.

Someone once told me , theres a spark here and there but for the most part the fire has gone out. Thats what he saw when he tried to go to church and/or denominations which is nothing more than the Body being separated.

I went to Church weekly until we started a family . Tom's only day off was Sunday and I decided that family time was more important . My Minister agreed with me . I am quite pious , and now read only parts of the Bible I want to " check on " . I wish that every town had a quiet Chapel just to go and reflect . It's too bad that Church doors are locked today .

It's an unfortunate sign of the times. If the doors were left unlocked you'd have any and all valuables stolen within a few hours. In the church I grew up in, we had multiple breakins and thefts - even with the doors locked.

Pagan.

i belive in a "higher power" something that most would name god, but i feel its simply an energy that exists in everything around me thats simply bigger than i am.
my church is the natural world and my holy book the moon and stars. "God" is in the eyes of my dogs and the hands of my friends. Its a universal energy that flows through everything.

personally i feel...if "GOD" is all around you, why do you need to go to a special house for "him" to hear you...
what? is the steeple actually a broadcast tower?! LOL!

i think old churches are architectually stunning, and have been in many to admire the stunning staind glass and carvings, i admire their beauty, but not once have i felt the need to be in that uilding for "god" to listen.

I consider myself a pretty religious person. I go to church only because Travis plays there, otherwise I don't really find myself learning or feeling any closer to God by going. I don't feel that going to church is something you have to do, rather than something you can do.

I also feel church is not what it should be, which is why I feel it's not needed to go. It's more, now, about looking good. Sometimes more of a performance, than anything. I don't need church to worship God so I don't find myself NEEDING to go.

I just recently started reading the Bible everynight. I've had it since I graduated HS and never really thought twice about reading it. But so far I'm glad I am, I like the one I have because it's in MY language(lol). Anyway, I am enjoying reading it :)

I pray a lot, I like to. I usually don't go a day without praying at least once.

I don't know what answer to choose.

I have faith. I wouldn't call it religion. We don't currently go to church but when we find one that we really enjoy we will start going. I pray often but rarely read the bible.

I wasn't TAUGHT my faith at an early age lol. I came upon it on my own in my 20's without the influence of anyone else.

I classify myself as Christian.

ETA: I don't want to start attending a church because I think it is nessecary to do so to connect with God and worship him... but because if you find the right church... the energy is amazing. the relationships you will form there are amazing. we want to find a church that has some members close to our age... well members of all ages but we need to meet more people our own age. Plus... if something SHOULD happen and we need help we can take comfort in knowing our church would be there to help us and we can do the same for others. But if you find the right church there is an amazing energy there and it can be a great experience... IMO. We just need to find the right one. they are out there

i got nothing.

i was raised catholic, became a rabid born-againer in jr high, got over it by late high school, dabbled in paganism in college, and now believe in nothing. no god, no goddess, no elusive higher power. sometimes i think it would be nice to be religious as i know many people find a great deal of comfort and strength in their faith, but none of it rings true for me.

Non-religious. Raised Methodist, and went to church, Sunday school, and eventually youth group most weeks. I don't remember ever thinking it was more than interesting stories.

I respect anyone who finds comfort and guidance through religion. Like elegy said, I do sometimes find myself wishing I did believe as strongly as many others, because I feel there must be some incredible comfort in that. But I do find comfort in other things, and I don't need religion to tell me how to be a good person, or to make me feel I must behave in a certain way to be "accepted". I will do my best to do right by everyone simply because that is my definition of humanity.

I'm an agnostic. I tried for years to be a "good Catholic", but ultimately I can neither believe nor disbelieve wholeheartedly. These days I just try to live a good life and not worry about it.

I hated every single part of church except the sermon, the homily, and the songs. I didn't find any other parts interesting, restful, or inspiring.

I pretty much agree 100% with what sparks said. => I don't really "devote" time every day to praying... it's just something I'm in the habit of doing multiple times throughout the day... as needed, LOL, I guess you could say.

I love a good church, but it's been years since I was in one that I enjoyed. I'd like to find another one, but so far, no luck around here. I'm not even sure how many years it's been since I went to church... three, maybe?

I believe in God, and pray every now and then.
But I don't go to church, nor read the Bible and I haven't done those 2 things in years.
I don't think I have to read the Bible or go to church to prove to anyone I believe in God.

I'm spiritual, but not religious in the slightest. My mom says even though I don't call myself anything, she sees a lot of Buddhist in me.
