I've not posted about this because I have just been upset, angry and just overwhelmed by it.

Just over a week ago my little Zoe was attacked by a coyote at my MIL house in the middle of the night while out on a pee break.

She is so incredibly lucky to be alive and I am forever greatful to whatever made that coyote not kill her in one bite.

So now we are onto the healing process.

She was taken to the e-vet, had surgery and came home to me last Tuesday with 6 drains in place, lots of stitches and staples.

She was doing great, healing nicely and had her drains removed Friday.

Sunday she had large fluid pockets under her skin and the vet decided she needed her drains put back in plus two extra so here we are back at the beginning again trying to heal her slowly from the inside out. Wound cleanings are a terrible battle but we are getting there.

I would appreciate any spare vibes y'all have that she starts to heal nicely.

I'm so sorry, how scary. You are incredibly lucky that she isn't worse, given her small size. I almost lost my old JRT to a severe coyote attack and I know of an ES who would have been killed by them had the other family ESs not intervened (but she is still missing about a quarter of the skin of her back and her legs are covered in punctures). People way underestimate coyotes and I get nervous every time I hear of people sending their dog after "one" (there's usually more waiting).

Sorry for the ramble! Poor sweet girl, I hope she heals up quickly and smoothly.

Sending lots of healing vibes!

I am so glad that there isn't any wildlife, aside from the occasional skunk, around my house... I can't imagine how horrified and worried I'd have been in your situation. I'm so glad to hear that Zoey is on the mend though.

I'm so glad she came through that alive -- hoping for a quick and full recovery. Poor little one.

I am SO glad she's recovering! How scary!

This terrifies me. :yikes: Those who have me on Facebook know that I had a little coyote scare this past weekend and I'm right in town. I am beyond paranoid and creeped out. :(
